The property was very spacious, very comfortable and in a beautiful location. The host Georgia was very generous and had left food, water and wine in the fridge. She also met us at the house as they had visited to clean the pool. The location is a stunning old village in the hills outside Maleme. Which is a short distance by car from restaurants, cafes, bakeries, supermarkets and beaches. The pool I found quite deep, it was 1.8m all over so potentially unsuitable for children. We also visited whilst swallows had been nesting and so there was a lot of bird activity around the outside space. This was our base to explore west of Heraklion with its easy access to the main highway, we visited Chania, Rethymno, Melidpni cave, Kournas lake and kissamos from here. The local beaches at Maleme were very nice and we took in a sunset at Sfinari though this does require driving on some older mountain roads.

The bathroom had a shower over the bath, which despite taking care meant the bathroom and floor often got wet which meant we had to mop the floor after every shower.
