Hôtel La Prison

Great location and lovely transformation of the building. Breakfast and bistro both very good and staff were all lovely. However I would only stay again in winter or in a room with A/C. Our twin with ceiling fan was unbearably hot in July. Pool was great for cooling off but would recommend A/C rooms if visiting in summer as it is roasting hot.

No A/C in twin rooms.

FASCINATING BUT SLIGHTLY MACARB PLACE TO STAY. STAFF WERE EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND AN EXCELLENT LOCATION

Loved the staff. They were super helpful and accommodating. Pool and workout room a pleasant surprise. Bike storage was great. Clean all around.The art was historic and modern and depicted the theme.

I would have appreciated hot water and tea in the room. You can ask for it for a fee at the desk at any time. I realize the rooms were basic and went with the theme of prison cells but adding this small piece would be appreciated. Also arriving on bike with packs we found that the lift was out of service from below.

The location was perfect and the room large but lacking in amenities

This is a hotel that seems to put form before function. There is a lot of artwork but the towels were small and rough. Despite paying more for a deluxe double there was no air conditioning and we checked out early after a very uncomfortable night. No conditioner, no shower cap and not even water offered. Every other hotel we stayed at offered us water. The staff were unfriendly too. They claim that it wasn't possible to have air-con due to the architecture of the building but alternatives to the ineffective ceiling fan were definitely possible. The restaurant and bar was closed on both nights of our stay during the summer season - again not helpful for guests. Sadly overall a very poor experience especially as we had been looking forward to staying here.
