Hôtel le XIX

We were a party of 4 adults with 2 rooms and this was the hotel we stayed in after 2 weeks on the Canal du Midi in a European heat wave and was certainly the Oasis we had hoped for. The staff were exceptional, being attentive, helpful and friendly. Our rooms were in different parts of the hotel - one area just renovated and the other not - but both were spacious with comfortable beds, modern bathrooms and well furnished. The breakfast had enough variety and the quality coffee was welcomed! When it was time to leave we were only a 10 minute walk down the hill through the park to the train station.

Very clean, simple elegant room in a tastefully restored building. Peaceful. Clever wrap around blackout curtains. Beautiful bathroom/shower. The breakfast was pleasant. Hotel/resto staff young and helpful. We enjoyed eating dinner and having ice cream in the little crescent plaza outside the hotel, which looked out to a much larger plaza with dancing fountains and replucas of world landmarks scaled to appeal to children. Was delightful to watch families and kids enjoying that space. Easy to walk through shop-lined streets to the old town center with its cathedral, old prison (now a hotel/ bistro) and spectacular views over the river valley below. We also took a boatride tour of the town's famous canals and locks system, along the Canal de Midi.

There was a slight stink of drains whenever entering/exiting the elevator...curious.

The location is perfect; great bed, very helpful and friendly check-in, kindly accommodated my requests; breakfast was fine

One waiter, although friendly to me, was pretty rude to some fellow guests in my hearing, which was uncomfortable. In my room, unfortunately, the overhead shower didn't work, nor did the hairdryer and regrettably, nor did the room telephone, so I ended up going down to reception in my pyjamas! I was only there for one night so I don't know if these issues were resolved, though staff were trying to take action swiftly. I don't think the breakfast room is quite as as the pictures suggest, but the bar is great.
