Valletta Traditional Townhouse

Przeniósł mnie w czasie:) Wystrój był niezwykle klimatyczny i autentyczny. Świetnie było doświadczyć mieszkania w tradycyjnej kamieniczce w Valettcie i zobaczyć jak wygląda od środka.

Na najniższym piętrze, które było pod ziemią, było bardzo wilgotno (za co pewnie odpowiada klimat Malty). Na minus było też to, że w nocy było słychać momentami dźwięki ulicy, które wybudzały ze snu (czasem było głośno, ale trzeba pamiętać, że apartament jest w centrum).

It's a beautiful place, in a great location right next to the only beach in Valletta, and near the main tourist areas but also not so close as to be in constant tourist traffic. Like other reviewers have said, I wish the management would listen to renters. But we would probably stay there again, even so. Try Ta Nenu restaurant nearby for Maltese specialties, or Sally Port down the street for pizza - both better than the Merchant/Republic Street restaurants.

Same as previous reviewers: mildewy house, not well insulated (upstairs bedroom with a/c is literally open to a balcony!), with some low ceiling ribs in the basement (but not as low as they seem in the pictures). When we arrived, there was no key in the box. The owner came and replaced it, which we did appreciate, but which left us basically paying to wait in the a/c of a restaurant in 104(40C)-degree heat. Apart from that, the management wasn't great. They send a Google maps link, but it doesn't work for Uber or Bolt. (We mapped to St. Ursula and St. Benedict and walked a block to the house instead.) They send the wrong wifi details - look on the back of the upstairs router instead, where the Wifi name and password are entirely different - and simply chose to ignore concerns we sent them on the second day (smoke alarm that we could not find beeping for dying battery; the stopped-up bathroom sink I fixed myself with their plunger after silence from the management company). They left a window open that was out of the way (maybe to disperse the mildew?), and that we didn't notice for days, leaving cold air blasting onto the street. There's a tiny extra bed at the top of some stairs that would work for a very small kid (literally 4 ft or 122 cm), but only in a mild season, since it can't be heated or air conditioned unless the bedroom door nearby is open. Like others have said, this place could be perfect, but the management company's dismissive attitude nearly nearly spoils a really nice place. Note that Malta regularly loses power on really hot days; we lost power for 9 hours in 106-degree heat (41 Celsius)! If that happens, go to the beach around the corner! The grocery corner shop nearby is often closed, unannounced, for siestas. There's a big basement grocery in a little mall/arcade on Market Street that has all you'll need.

Valletta house review This is an elegant traditional town house that has a lot going for it in terms of location for Valletta activities, and within walking distance for buses elsewhere. However the owner is seemingly careless about a number of things that would be simple to resolve. These include: an adaptor plug in the kitchen that is stuck fast in a loose (and dangerous) non-working socket, meaning the only way to use the kettle and toaster was to get our own adaptor for a working socket (in any case why are there appliances in the house with non-standard plugs?); a mirror light in the downstairs bathroom paired with the overhead light that flashes on and off the whole time; the downstairs toilet missing its lid; the movement sensor for the upstairs bathroom light is badly positioned, meaning the light goes off while showering; the shower head upstairs leaks badly; and the lighting in the kitchen and small living room is dim and far from warm. Finally, this was the first place we’ve stayed in that offered no tips on the best local shops etc, how to operate the TVs and boxes, or handling/sorting rubbish. We informed the booking agent of some of the more serious issues at the start of the week, and were told they were passing this on to the owner. But we heard nothing back. In short, a not inexpensive rent for a decent house that nevertheless needs more thoughtful management and attention to justify the asking price.
