The pool was great Location is great

The pool was lovely. The apartment was easy to find. Lots of nice restaurants on the same street and the area felt very upmarket and quiet.

The room smelled musty and damp. I guess it’s a result of a bathroom with no windows and the shower had a dreadful leak so water pooled on the floor which won’t have helped. We had initially asked for help locating our specific apartment from the host of the Orka restaurant but she looked us up and down with such barely disguised disgust that we moved on and after some trial and error found it ourselves. We obviously chose not to eat there as a result but did eat at Peppers down the street which was lovely and welcoming. I didn’t like the fact that we had a ground floor room as the gate to the property and the main door were meant to be locked with a key code to enter but both were unlocked the whole time we were there so any stranger from the street has access to the building.

There was no staff to communicate with during the stay.

Before our arrival, the host communicated very well, with good details about how to get to the apartment and how to get into the building. She was very responsive and helpful. She also provided a handout in the apartment with lots of helpful information including local phone numbers for 911, pharmacies, etc. The location worked well for us, since we were coming in on the ferry and it is within 1 mile walk of the ferry dock. It is also very close to a bus stop where you can catch a bus to the Old Town. However, if our main goal had been to visit the Old Town over multiple days, this would not have been the best location and I would have chosen something in or closer to the Old Town. When we arrived at the apartment at 7 PM and found it was dirty, the host responded rapidly and ultimately vacuumed it, which we appreciated. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was nice with a large shower.

When we arrived, the apartment was not clean. There were a lot of crumbs in kitchen drawers, some kind of material (maybe sauce?) stuck to the wall behind the dining table, and debris on the floor as if it had not been vacuumed. Also the first time I tried to open a cabinet door to get a plate, the door fell off one of the hinges. We contacted the owner, and she arrived promptly, but our conversation was awkward and tense. She insisted that she had checked the apartment earlier in the day and it was clean at that time, which did not make sense as I had just arrived and took photos to send her of the dirty areas. It felt like she was saying we were wrong and it was not dirty, when clearly it was. This was frustrating. I appreciated that she was then willing to vacuum the apartment that evening, but it left me feeling disappointed by the stay.
