Location was very convenient. The views were magnificient.

Aki was present to show us around. Access was via password code which was handy. Place was very well decked out with amenities. Very clean and comfortable stay. Washer was super handy. Kitchen well layed out. Aki also offered transfer to and from MADARAO being 1 min away by car. And Aki is super friendly and helpful.
Four wheel drive is a must for the small hilly and curvy road leading to the residency if driving. Access to the place is by car - walking is not an option to main strip of MADARAO ski resort. Could do with seats in foyer to assist in getting shoes on and off. Dishwasher is a little small for more than two people.

The view from the lounge is just amazing. Large apartment, both rooms with their own ensuite, well equipped kitchen and washer/dryer. Super quiet location and a 10min leisurely walk up to the ski resort/restaurants. Aki is a top host - easy to communicate with, no problem using luggage delivery to/from, will pick you up in the mornings to take you to the resort if you wish, helps with ski gear rental and lift passes AND even books reservations to restaurants. It's a 20min bus ride up from Iiyama to Madarao so a doable stay if you don't have a car like us. More restaurants/eateries in the area than we thought too. We did a big grocery shop at the large supermarket next to Iiyama station before we bussed up.
We loved our week in January at Aki's. Even with missing out on powder!
It was tricky figuring out how to heat the bath... but we got there using google translate and that's the only thing I can think of!
