Riu Playacar - All Inclusive

The beach is wonderful! The food and beverages are excellent for an all- inclusive resort. You do not have to make reservations at restaurants! We were able to walk in and eat at every restaurant we wanted each night.

The furnishings are a bit outdated. They had limited staff serving drinks at the pool and there were long waits to receive your orders. Getting out of the pool and ordering at the bar was inconvenient but much quicker.

Rooms have the mirror next to the bar instead of next to the balcony, it was hard to get ready and take some pictures

Room was cleaned frequently and mini-bar stocked with a decent selection of drinks The buffet for breakfast and dinner offered a good variety of food that did change slightly everyday. Italian restaurant was very good

Common areas, pools and loungers need more frequent cleaning. The steakhouse restaurant was bad. We tried the sirloin steak and it was very clear the quality of the meat was poor due to the very high amount of fat and salt used. Reception staff were not helpful due to ranging from lack of knowledge to providing incorrect information. An example is you need to obtain a QR code for friends/family visiting the hotel from outside the Playacar area. In addition the family member that did visit obtained a daily pass to use the hotel facilities. On the last day he was refused access to simply collect his belongings from our room as we did not want to spend 875 MXN to spend 10 minutes in our hotel room.. This added unnecessary stress and wasted time.
