The location was very quiet, which was perfect for me and my friend who were after a quiet getaway but not too far from Naples. The villa is located down a quiet dead end road. It is very spacious and has a lovely private outdoor area which would be perfect for a family. The only problem was the access to public transport.
On arrival we were advised by our host, Valentina, to hire a car. I was not keen on this as I was not confident driving on the other side of the road to the UK! Valentina provided us with contact details for a local taxi driver, Gennaro, who was fabulous. He took us to Pozzuoli train station everyday and was always 15 minutes early to collect us and 100% reliable. He gave us a guided tour of the places we were driving through and advised us on the best way to get places by train. We let him know what time we would be returning on the train from Naples and he would be waiting outside the station on our arrival. We thought we would be able to walk to the station/ bus stop but the main road is fast and with no pavement we decided not to try that again after one attempt. We did not see a bus throughout our stay and we were informed that they are very unreliable.
Valentina contacted me a few days before our arrival by Whatsapp to provide me with details about the villa. She waited up until the early hours to make sure we had arrived safely and was on hand to give the taxi driver directions from the airport in Italian. She came to the villa early on our first morning with pastries, coffee and other essentials. She took us into the nearest town to pick up some other groceries.
Naples is a half hour train journey from Pozzuoli. You can get a train from Naples to Pompeii, Vesuvius, Herculaneum, Sorrento, and Rome is an hour away by train.
The villa was immaculate and very clean.
The only issue we had was the access to public transport, but that is through no fault of the host!
