Fabulous apartment in the heart of Blandford

I really only slept there. Family close by.

I particularly didnt like the stairs. You were honest in your description of the property and even included a photograph. Fortunatelyt, my son lives nearby and was able to help me. Otherwise I would have struggled. The shower was slippery, but I stood on the handtowel!

Very poor sleeping experience

The room was well decorated and very clean. The bed was very comfortable. The bedding and towels were very good. There is free parking.

However, we had a very poor sleeping experience due to the location and the lack of appropriate facilities provided. We stayed there on a very warm day/night. The air conditioning unit provided requires a flue which needs to be put through the open window to work. This unit can't be used at night time because it is very loud. The fan provided is also noisy. Consequently we had to keep the windows opened. We were kept awake until 3.30am by drunk and loud passerbys, some stayed chatting on the benches outside the shop under our windows, and also by the traffic on the busy high street. This culminated by being woken up at 7am by the nearby church clock chimes.The blinds provided in the room are also not fit for purpose. Because we had to keep the windows opened, they rattled in the breeze and they also let the light through, adding to our discomfort. To sort out these issues, the owner needs to invest in a proper fitted air-conditioning unit and proper curtains. Clearer directions on how to get to the free YMCA car park would have helped too. Luckily, the owner was around when we arrived and showed us where it was. Lastly, we didn't feel that the locking system on the front door of the shop, which you've got to use to access your room, was adequate. It is flimsy and one lock didn't work properly which doesn't make the place secure enough. It would have been good for the owner to show us around as she was in the shop when we arrived. We asked the owner for a partial refund but she refused.

A great and relaxing stay, with everything one needs to recharge and restore!

Very relaxing atmosphere and great view of Blandford Town. Room nicely set out with tea, coffee facilities. Nice size smart TV if you want to carry on with your present series. Bathroom has soap and shampoo and a great shower! Local venues included The Normaste Gurkha Restaurant where I had a delicious Mango & Chicken Curry. There’s also Dominos a few doors down, but the local King Pizza is my choice, as they do great Pizzas and loads of other dishes. For breakfast, there is the Gorge Café almost opposite, but for a really great breakfast venue, I recommend the Brewery Tap at the Hall and Woodhouse Visitor Centre. The parking right opposite is free overnight, and free all day for Disabled Badge users. (See pics)

A wonderful secret space in the heart of a lovely town.

This is a quirky, lovely accommodation right in the heart of Blandford Forum. I loved being able to listen and watch life evolve and in the street below and access all the towns amenities within a short walk. Meeting Jacqui and the barbers downstairs was a real treat and made a good stay great.

The narrow stairs phased me with my luggage but that is part of the property quirkiness, not a dislike per se.

Blandfords beautiful little Secret.

Absolutely perfect, we just needed a room with sleeping and freshening up facilities. The Secret was perfect.

There was nothing we didn't like, the stairs may be an issue for some people but not for us.

An unexpected joy

This is exactly what it says - a place that is secluded, stylishly decorated, and big enough to be comfortable, especially as you can eat your supper at the bar in the kitchen after the barber is closed. Lovely views out over the high street and the church garden. The bed is soft, the bathroom very well appointed with everything you could need in place, and there's generosity in the provision of teabags and sugar. We were spending one night en route to somewhere else but we would come here again, for sure. Blandford Forum was unknown to us but turns out to be a very attractive place - worth a visit in its own right. The owner was also very responsive to questions.

Some warning of the exceptional complications of the one way system would have been helpful. We went round it four times trying to find the parking place, and another couple of times trying to go to Sturminster Newton later that day! I followed Google maps as suggested but the given instructions 'as you're coming down the hill' depend on how you are approaching the place (we came in along East Street). A street name would have helped. Google maps doesn't give Sheep Market Hill as a street name - The Tabernacle would work.

Room and kitchen comfortable enough. Complicated name. Stylish enough, but not everyone will like this style.

Access via stairs is not comfortable. You need to bend and twist. I managed, but would not be suitable for tall people, or with mobility issues. Although was mentioned in the description.

A shower mat would have been a good safety feature - mentioned to host who said she would remedy. Stairs were a problem initially but soon got used to them.

Perfect location, easy to get in to when the barber shop was closed, very clean and very comfortable + nice to have tea and coffee available in the room.

Great Room

The secret is a great place to stay in Blandford if you are looking for a Room only, with some kitchen facilities. On out visit we used the bedroom and the bathroom.

As the kitchen is shared with the barbers it is not your alone Please beware that the steps up to the room are very steep and require good mobility.

Quaint hide-a-way in charming little town.

Location of room is charming, on a pretty high street with lovely restaurants and pubs. Close to river and wildlife. Really delightful. Lovely bed, super shower, friendly staff.

As stated, room is on second floor in Georgian House. Staircase to room.is steep and narrow - not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

this is the perfect place for a weekend away! myself and my partner stayed over for the night and the facilities were absolutely amazing! perfectly clean, amazing location and the room was cosy, warm and very well kept. Huge thank you to Jackie and the other staff members who made our stay so comfortable! We will certainly be back in the future 😊
