Fake advertising!! The hotel is not on the beach and does NOT have direct access to it despite claim on it web site and on Expedia including fake photo trying to prove otherwise!!( pics of beach from a business they collaborate with. You have to cross a busy road to get to the beach !! 2) there are no elevators to reach the reception or the breakfast restaurant!! 3) they make you wait when you check out until they have checked the room to make sure you did not take the TV with you ?!! And forcefully tell you to wait “ because that is the procedure “!!! Definitely not a 5 star property and should not be allowed to make false claims as being on the beach !!!

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Varana – a hotel that truly exceeded our expectations. The entire experience was marked by calmness, quality, and exceptional hospitality. The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and helpful throughout our stay, and we felt genuinely well taken care of from beginning to end. The fitness facilities are some of the best I’ve seen at any hotel, and the food was both healthy and delicious. It was especially impressive that much of the food is produced on-site – fresh, local, and sustainable. Breakfast was varied and beautifully presented, with plenty of healthy and tasty options. The pools were clean, beautiful, and relaxing, and the Beach Club connected to the hotel was a cool and stylish spot with a great vibe and high standards. Varana Hotel Krabi has the potential to be a wonderful hotel. However, during my stay there it was evident that the hotel was simply not ready -- not that the hotel rooms are not fully built (they are and they are wonderful), more so the activity areas. Multiple fitness/health areas were still under construction, there were three different schedules for activities that never matched, some of the "fitness courses" were either closed or had not been built, and every activity had an additional fee if you wanted to partake. While I understand that this may be because I visited during the low season, the lack of a "complete" hotel should have been stated. The hotel is just not ready for visitors who want to take advantage of the different offerings that Varana advertises.

Nice quiet location, you are able to relax and not think about work. Food is great on the resort or off the resort. Breakfast is amazing. I had my doubts but a solo half day trip to the outlying is a very good deal and much needed. Great way to see the island at your own pace. It could get crowded with other tourists and having a private boat is nice. Go during off season. It’s not crowded and the vide is very chill. Shout to all the staff and Albert who are patient and want you to have a nice and relaxing time.

We stayed for 4 nights in the luxe plus room with pool view (we were upgraded from luxe pool view) and we had a view of the sea from the balcony as well which was a lovely surprise (room 241)! The pools were great - we spent a lot of time there with our 2 year old. The food is also excellent - definitely recommend the pizza if you want a break from Thai! We went to the naam spa experience which was incredible, and also ate at the sala restaurant - great view of the sunset and everything was delicious, especially the spicy grilled chicken! The location is ideal as its at a beautiful quiet beach but there are still plenty of restaurants, massage places, longboat tours etc and a 7-11 nearby. The hotel staff were so friendly and really made our stay feel special. We're already planning our next visit! Thank you, Varana!

This was the perfect start to our Thailand holiday. A beautiful hotel, clean and comfortable. We loved the range of wellness activities on offer without it feeling like a ‘wellness retreat’. The staff are incredible and can’t do enough to help you, super polite and friendly. We also loved the beach club across the road where Varana guests get free use of the beach beanbags. Perfect hotel in a great location.

This was just luxury for our last 3 nights of honeymoon the horizon sea view room was perfect, the bedding was the most comfortable & the best sleep we’ve ever had! The staff were all so friendly & the food was incredible, breakfast had so much choice the eggs Benedict cooked to perfection. We ate at Sala restaurant & by the pool also & both meals were fantastic. We can recommend the Lamb chops. We really can’t fault this hotel, the facilities, staff, food & rooms were all excellent to finish our holiday. The location was good for us & the beach club just across the road was a perfect spot on the beach. We actually booked this 2 weeks before as our original choice hotel on its own beach & needed a speedboat to get to suddenly started to get some really poor reviews & we were getting worried but we are so glad we changed to the Varana as it really was top class

One may say it is expensive for thailande… but it worths the price. The hotel is incredible, really. Depending on what you are looking for, but Klhong Muang beach is not crowded at all compared to Ao nang. So peacefull with some good restaurants on the beach. Restaurants of the hotel are expensive compared to ones outside, indeed, but quality of the food is way higher.

The Varana Hotel has great curb appeal—beautifully decorated and spacious. But that’s where the compliments stop. As a “wellness” hotel, nearly everything comes at an extra cost, including many activities and access to the beach club. Their sustainability efforts seem more about cutting costs than guest experience. We paid for an Ocean View Room but only saw trees. Rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors do not have ocean views. Walls are thin, so expect noise—from guests, birds, or the 5:30 AM mosque call to prayer. The Olympic pool is 3 meters deep at its shallowest, with no bar or lounge area. Happy hour is a scam—prices increase before offering a “deal.” Hidden fees are everywhere: 1,000 Baht fines for towels on railings, mini-fridge drinks promised as “complimentary” but charged at checkout, and constant upselling of their own services while refusing to recommend outside options. Housekeeping came at 5 PM despite our 6 AM request, and a promised 6 AM boxed breakfast was “confirmed” with a 4 AM wake-up call. In wall safe was not secured tot he wall and easily taken away. Management ignores complaints, offering only “we’ll discuss it in a meeting.” A waste of money—there are better options nearby. Avoid.

I rarely write reviews and consider myself a picky hotel guest, but Varana truly deserves top marks! The service exceeded all expectations, and the hotel itself is an experience. Varana is a new, stylish, and luxurious hotel. We stayed in a Horizon Ocean King room with a panoramic ocean view. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. A special thanks to: 1. Albert at the reception – exceptional service! He helped us book excursions, always asked about our day with genuine interest, and provided great recommendations. Also, thanks for the best check-in and check-out experience I’ve ever had! 2. Pond at Restaurant Sala – always kind and service-minded. 3. Dew at the Sip pool bar– made delicious drinks and was great company for a friendly chat. Varana has a strong focus on organic and sustainable food, which is evident in their restaurant. We really enjoyed the high-quality breakfast each morning. Varana has an exclusive Beach Club, but we especially enjoyed the beach at its sister hotel, The Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort. We had multiple dinners at their Thai restaurant due to the fantastic food, stunning views, and amazing atmosphere. A special thanks to: 1. Hana for her humor, great food recommendations, and charming personality. 2. Thea for her warm smile and fantastic service. Varana exceeded all our expectations, and we will definitely be back. A fantastic hotel offering top-tier service, outstanding facilities, and a perfect blend of luxury and wellness.

Absolutely beautiful hotel. The entire complex is spotless and well maintained. The rooms were lovely and beds extremely comfortable. Pool areas are brilliant, could do with proper pool table service as it is difficult to get served unless going to kiosk and can take a long time to get food or drink near the pool. If you're wanting a relaxed getaway to just chill by the pool or beach then this place is great. Happy I chose to stay here than Ao Nang.

Positive: - modern facilities with feeling of high build quality with the exception of SPA - very nice room interior - excellent aircondition - excellent breakfast - good gym - very kind/polite staff Negative: - Staff does not understand basic English. Many misunderstandings arised. - There were roosters crowing from the neighboring property from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM, which kept us awake during this period due to poor insulation between the rooms and the outside. - We travelled with an infant (3 months old) but got a room which required us to walk several steps with no elevator. We were also called from the front desk one morning and asked that we must be silent during night and can’t play music - this was just weird since we went to sleep at 10pm each evening and did not drink alcohol for the whole holiday. - A bit expensive (EUR 390/night for regular room) compared to what you got

For a five star hotel you will certainly be disappointed. Check in is at 3pm. We got to hotel at 3 and they wouldn’t let us into a room until 4pm…. Which is frustrating for the price of the hotel. They also wouldn’t tell us why we couldn’t get our room keys. At 3:01 I asked for the keys and they kept saying “why don’t you sit and enjoy the bar or the pool?” When telling them I wanted to get my room they kept diverting us instead of being straight up and saying they needed more time. We had spent 5 hours traveling, just wanted to go into some air conditioning for a bit and put our bags down. Also the front desk people took quite a long time, took us over 30-40 minutes to check in. Breakfast is small and limited, the waitress we had seemed very annoyed I asked for an omelette. 75% staff was exceptionally pleasant while the other 25% were quite rude and seemed annoyed with us. Language barrier is extremely difficult at this hotel as well, especially for being a 5 star hotel. We would point to things on menus just to have blank stares back at us… we were quite confused by that too. They also were incredibly difficult to get towels from. Even at the main pool on the property they do a poor job cleaning off chairs with old drinks and towels and hard to get someone’s attention for food/drink/clean towels. One day at the pool we went the entire day without towels, then when I asked for two they told me it was 100 bhat! Very cheap but also, I’m staying at the hotel.

New hotel so property is beautiful and in very good condition. Worth the upgrade to horizon room - much larger and spectacular beach and sunset views with access to quieter breakfast restaurant. Gym is good but needs more cardio equipment - a lot of open space for equipment like punching bags and ropes that no one uses. Service is somewhat lacking - very slow check in, check out and service at restaurants. Need to fine tune that to be a 5 star.

Really lovely resort - lots of area's to relax and pools are fab. The place is very new so lush facilities. Great to have free kayaking and beach volley ball facilities etc. Breakfast was excellent. Only dislikes were the gym is a bit crowded in am, and no room to be. For a place that is marketed as a wellcation facility I expected yoga options and exercise classes at a reasonable price. Great restaurants at resort (Sala) but rather more expensive then local places which are great. And happy hour cocktaisl very disappointing at the beach club.
