Grab a book and delve into its pages in the shade of one of these trees, or catch some of the Southern Italian sunshine, before dipping into the refreshing waters of the pool as the aromas from the garden's many plants hang heavy in the air. Leaving the grounds of the home, you'll find yourself within easy reach of typical towns of the region, including historic Volterra and San Gimignano, as well as Florence and Siena, where you will be able to sample not only the local way of life but also the fabulously flavourful Tuscan cuisine. Beach bunnies may well also rejoice as the gorgeous stretches of soft sand lining the Tyrrhenian Sea are also readily accessible. With bellies rumbling, you can either put the well-equipped traditional kitchen to the test and try your hand at replicating old favourites and new delicacies discovered on your sojourns of the local area. Or, make your way to one of the numerous nearby trattorias and spend the evening feasting alfresco.
