Hotel Kaķītis

Oli todella hyvä hotelli - ilmastointi ja leveä vuodesohva lapsille. Mutta paras oli sen edessä oleva mieletön maisema Gauja-joen laaksoon.

The hotel’s location is excellent, and the surrounding nature is simply mesmerizing, with numerous walking trails, monuments, and scenic viewpoints. These attractions are especially easy to reach during the summer and in dry weather. Be sure to visit Emperor's View (Ķeizarskats), the Piekaramais Tilts bridge, Velnalas Klintis and Velna Ala caves, and the Small Devil’s Cave (Mazā Velnala). However, if you are not traveling by car, the hotel can be more difficult to reach. There are fast and easy bus connections from Sigulda railway station, but they do not run very frequently, so be sure to check the schedule in advance.

There was no information provided about the check-out process. I had to call the owner at around 9:00 a.m. to ask where I could leave the keys, as there was no one in the lobby area. The Booking.com listing states that breakfast is available for an additional charge of €10. However, it does not mention that the restaurant in the same building only opens at 10:00 a.m. Since I had to leave before then, I was unable to have breakfast.

Geweldig hotel op prachtige locatie. Wij hadden de suite, die was heel ruim met eigen balkon en een keukentje. De kamer was mooi ingericht, alles nieuw en van alle gemakken voorzien. Het uitzicht over de bossen en de rivier de Gauja is overweldigend. Voor kinderen is er ook veel te doen. Je moet wel een auto huren of met eigen auto komen want het ligt wat afgelegen.

Kan niks bedenken.

The surrounding area is beautiful and peaceful, and there is a small playground with swings, which our children enjoyed.

The booking was made for “Kaķitis Hotel”, but we were accommodated in a different building – above the Murr Café, on the second floor. This was not made clear in advance, and as we were traveling with small children, it was a real shock upon arrival. The rooms lacked cleanliness, and we were disappointed with the condition overall. There was also a lack of communication regarding breakfast – there was no information about the menu or what would be served. Both adults and children were given the same food (sausages, fried eggs, bacon), which many children don’t eat for breakfast. As a result, food was wasted unnecessarily. The whole experience felt disorganized and not family-friendly.
