It was clean and neat. Communication was good.
There were no dishes, glasses, or plates provided—no crockery at all. We had cutlery and pots and pans, but nothing else. Additionally, the place had not been aired out and smelled strongly of must and damp. Simply airing it for an hour or two before our arrival would have made a noticeable difference in both the smell and the humidity inside. It was also extremely hot, with no fan or air conditioner available, which made the environment very uncomfortable.
Furthermore, I believe it is the host’s responsibility to ensure the property is properly cleaned and prepared for each new guest. It is totally understandable that a guest clean the accommodation during their stay, I found it annoying that we were expected to remove linen from the beds, turn it inside out, do all the washing up, remove all the bin liners, etc. upon departure. We arrived late, left early the following morning. Makes me wonder if, apart from the sheets being washed, a cleaner even cleans in between visits. Thorough cleaning—including the removal of used linen, bed protectors, dishes, and garbage—should be completed by the host or a designated cleaner between bookings.
