About this house rental

This former fisherman's cottage is located right on the Freest marina. It has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It has been lovingly and tastefully renovated in a nostalgic style and is uniquely furnished. We rent out two adjacent fishermen’s cottages (see listing 2); you’ll share a common courtyard and garden on a fenced-in property of approximately 2,000 m².

In the semi-wild garden with its sheds and nooks, enjoy the scent of the sea, the occasional faint whiff of smoked fish, the cries of seagulls, watching our swallows, and the quiet bustle from the neighboring marina. This place is truly authentic and still a little-known gem for those seeking that genuine Baltic Sea vibe, far from large-scale tourism.

Location: Freest is one of the last intact fishing villages in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It is part of the municipality of Kröslin. It has a small fishing and marina and its own smokehouse in town. We highly recommend buying fish directly from the boat at the harbor. The shallow sandy beach (great for kids) is a 5-minute walk away. You can rent beach chairs right on the beach.

There are several restaurants right in town (all within a 5-minute walk)

Or treat yourself to a horse-drawn carriage ride (max. 4 people) through the forests of Freest.

A small fishing museum in Freest itself is also worth a visit, with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. No, it’s not spectacular, but it’s still quite surprising. There are also two bike rental shops in town.

For just a few euros, take the ferry to Usedom (destination: Peenemünde) or to Rügen. By car, Usedom is 11.3 km from Wolgast and takes about 10 minutes to reach. Wolgast also offers numerous shopping options and, of course, the many beaches on Usedom and the amber spas there. The beach at the seaside resort of Lubmin is also just a 10-minute drive away. Please note: A daily visitor’s tax applies when visiting some seaside resorts. (Vending machines are usually available in front of the beaches.) There is no visitor’s tax in Freest. The houses are located next to the old historic Freest boat yard, which sometimes offers guided tours. You’ll find a large, modern shipyard at the Baltic Sea Resort in the neighboring main town of Kröslin. The Baltic Sea Resort also features a restaurant right on the water with a beautiful view of Usedom.

Kröslin, Freest district, Dorfstraße 20, with approx. 150 square meters of living space, 5 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, dining room/kitchen, and a common room with a TV.

Outdoor seating and lounging areas, as well as a kettle grill, are available for each house.

Suitable for up to 10 people

Dogs are, of course, allowed in the house provided proper hygiene is observed. If you’d like to paint, please let us know—we’d be happy to provide an easel.

The adjacent middle house costs between 135.00 € and 260.00 € per day, plus a one-time fee of 180.00 € for final cleaning, plus a one-time laundry package fee of 18.00 € per person (includes sheets, bed linens, a bath towel, and a hand towel per person). There is a one-time fee of 50.00 € per dog per stay.
Larger groups of up to 18 people can, of course, rent both houses if booked in advance.
