Jacksonville Beach Home - Walk to Beach, Bars & Restaurants - Pet Friendly

Was a very beautiful house, peaceful neighborhood, it was great overall! 10/10 would definitely recommend

It was very close to the beach and it didn’t hurt that there is an ocean cream shop at the end of the road. The host was very attentive and the house and fenced backyard were very nice

The location was nice. The space was great. It was a quiet place.

The outdoor space could use some shade from the sun. Also, not all of the light switches were labeled or functioned.

Beach is nearby with public parking at the end. But it's not close enough for some people to walk, so you need the car or a bike. Restaurants & stores are nearby via car. The neighborhood is safe and there is a sidewalk all the way to the beach. Carport is good in the rain. House is roomy and generally clean for a rental. Couches now have slipcovers. Main bedroom - bed was comfortable, but a king would be preferable for most guests. Water pressure very good. The bathrooms and kitchen were not overly supplied but had the basics. The TV is large and worked well.

We wish we had nothing negative to report, but most of the issues can be easily remedied. OUTSIDE: It was farther from the beach than our other similar choices, but we specifically chose this one based on the description & picture of the fenced yard with the "manicured" lawn. Our experience did not match except the lawn was green. It's Bahia grass which gets 12-18" tall when uncut. Our pup is only 12" tall and the grass / lawn basics were not maintained. Long grass in FL promotes ants, fleas, ticks & palmetto bugs. ALL were present & so we could not use the yard. Bikes were lined up on the side of house, but you'd have to trek thru the tall grass & pests to get to them. The ants were roaming the patio & deck and on the front lawn were fire ant mounds. The BBQ is very unclean and prior guests left a charcoaled piece of meat. INSIDE: We had trouble breathing the first evening and wondered why. We found one of the plug-in type air fresheners that basically atomize the fragrance into the room. It was irritating to breathe & that problem cleared up in a few hours - as soon as we unplugged it. This type of device is not needed when the air is clean. So looking at the air handler closet for the HVAC & bathroom exhaust fans - all were clogged with dust, debris and just not clean. It's unhealthy and always a basic indicator of the overall care of the property. The oven was not clean. The refrigerator has a leak of some sort causing an ice ball to form inside on the back wall (we mention this because it may eventually cause the frig to fail). The back windows in the kitchen and dinette are completely uncovered. There is a 2 story home behind this house. It's a very uncomfortable feeling of being "exposed" at night and should have window coverings.
