About this apartment rental
This beautiful half-timbered Alsatian house includes several holiday cottages, comfortable, fully equipped, tastefully furnished and endowed with a lot of charm. It is good to stay and stroll in the streets of old Eguisheim, in the warm light that varies according to the seasons, thus enhancing the colorful palette of the houses nestled in the hollow of the ramparts.
The gîte La Bretzel 🥨 is an apartment located on the 1st floor of the residence.
This cottage is very bright, decorated to the taste of the day, fully equipped so that you have the best possible stay. The floor is tiled for more cleanliness and brings a certain freshness in summer.
You enter directly into the large living room. The fully equipped kitchen (large fridge, oven, microwave, ceramic hob, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, kettle and of course crockery and pans). You will even find a raclette machine to share a delicious meal in winter.
The kitchen is open to the living room. A comfortable sofa with an armchair to relax after your visits and walks in the nearby vineyard. A large storage cupboard is available in the living room.
After a small corridor is a separate toilet. On either side there is the bedroom and the bathroom. The bedroom is decorated in soft tones for a peaceful sleep. The bed is comfortable King dose size (180x200.) A wardrobe with shelves will also allow you to settle in and put all your belongings.
The bathroom opposite has just been retiled in June 2021 now offering a beautiful shower, a vanity unit, and a towel dryer. A vmc ensures its good ventilation.
For your comfort, beds are made before arrival, as well as towels and bath towels provided in the bathroom.
Fiber WIFI is available in the apartment.
In winter, the heating is optimal with radiators in each room that everyone can adjust to their liking. The central heating is city gas for pleasant warmth when returning from visits to the Christmas markets and a cocooning stay.

It is in the heart of one of the most beautiful villages in France and the "favorite village of the French in 2013" that these beautiful refurbished cottages are located. A very central location in the village, close to all shops and yet very quiet.
Eguisheim, the cradle of the Alsatian vineyards, is backed by gentle hills planted with vines. Located at an altitude of 210 metres, in the heart of Alsace, this wine-growing village spreads out the 339 hectares of its terroir 5 kilometres from Colmar and close to Strasbourg, Fribourg and Basel, European capitals, allowing you to discover many things in the surrounding area and to taste the good Alsatian gastronomy.

The host's father met us at the apartment to handover keys and to give us a brief overview of where to find things. Despite his lack of English and our lack of French we managed to communicate very well.Our host very kindly allowed us to checkin prior to the normal checkin time which was most appreciated.The apartment itself was very well located in centre of old town so made it easy to walk to different market stalls and restuarants.The apartment is located on the first floor accessed by stairs only. The one bedroom apartment was roomy with a well equipped kitchen which made it easy to prepare our own meals. We did not need parking but if you need there is a public car park area approx 200m walk.Our only negative comment would be the bed which was not so comfortable due to thin mattress and a couple of slats would slip out and it was not possible to always keep them in place.In conclusion, we have no hesitation recommending this property both the apartment and host were great.

A very nice location (except for parking- though public parking doable)
Unfortunately communication with owner was difficult as everything they wrote was in French- so some confusion as to their expectations for our responsibilities. Would be great if Vrbo could provide a translation service. Also, your age bracket is very broad with only having adults 18+. Senior citizens might have a separate category as their needs might be different.

A great location in such a charming village. The apartment was equipped with everything we needed. It was a very comfortable stay. Wish we would have had more time. I didn’t want to leave.

The apartment is very well equipped, modern, warm, clean, with a comfortable bed & good shower. Bretzel is on the middle floor, with similar apartments both above & below. The building itself fits in well with all of the others in this very picturesque & charming village. Whilst there is no parking at the property, there is a public car park approx. 100m away, costing 3 euros per day. (you can park outside for unloading/loading on arrival & departure, so no struggling with luggage).
Very friendly & helpful owner, who speaks fluent English.
Didn't manage to use any of the local restaurants, some of which were closed due to the time of year, as there are so many other places to visit both in the Alsace region, and further afield.
A very enjoyable stay, I would certainly recommend Bretzel.
