The place is good for its price. It’s not the most extravagant yet it’s clean and got everything I need like towels, slippers, soap and shampoo. There are a lot of restaurants and convenience stores nearby. The downside is only the internet so if you have some work to do, best to just rely on your pocket wifi as esims during our stay were quite unreliable or there is a 24/7 cafe just a minute walk from the accommodation with a good wifi which is a plus too.

My spouse and I are deeply traumatized by our experience at Guesthouse Dongdaemun Neighbors (Booking ID: ***). Agoda’s "Non-Refundable" policy trapped us here, forcing us to double-book and pay out of pocket for another hotel in Gangneung just to survive part of our trip in a sanitary environment. When we finally checked in here, our worst fears were confirmed. This place is a hazardous scam that violates South Korea's Public Health Control Act.
Here is the reality of this property:
• CRITICAL SAFETY & FIRE HAZARD: The bedroom door frame is so severely warped that the door cannot close or latch naturally. The only way to keep it shut is to forcefully lock it with a key. This is a massive security threat and a fatal fire hazard that would block emergency evacuation.
• SEVERE PRIVACY BREACH: The main entrance is left wide open 24/7 with zero staff on-site, allowing any random stranger to walk in off the street. To make matters worse, the host publicly wrote all guests' full names, reservation numbers, and room assignments on a whiteboard right by the unsecured entrance.
• BIOHAZARD CONDITIONS & INFESTATIONS: The room and bathroom are covered in toxic black mold and rot. The ventilation system is choked with filth, emitting a sickening sewage stench. Worst of all, the bunk beds are heavily infested with insects. Even after chemical fogging, bugs crawled over our bodies every single night, making sleep impossible.
• HOSTILE & DISCRIMINATORY HOST: Upon arrival, the host aggressively shouted at us due to his own confusion over guest profiles, making unacceptable discriminatory remarks before casually admitting that "the place is just really old."
WARNING TO ALL TRAVELERS: Do not let the photos fool you. This property is an illegal, unsafe, and unsanitary operation. We have already compiled photo/video evidence and filed official reports with the Dongdaemun-gu District Office and the Korea Consumer Agency (한국소비자원) for legal and administrative sanctions.
Agoda needs to delist this property immediately. Save your money, your privacy, and your health—DO NOT BOOK HERE.
