The best thing about Alekos House is the location, just metres from the seafront in the truly exceptional village of Longos (or Loggos). It has a good-sized balcony, which has the sun pretty much all day, overlooking the tiny main street up to the supermarket; a great place just to sit and watch village life go by. The rooms are large, simply furnished, with big windows which open out onto the balcony, and the beds comfortable, and the rather quaint kitchen area has pretty much everything you need. The owners, Arthur and his wife, are very friendly and right on hand if you need anything, as they run the two gift shops below and across the street. Longos has several very good restaurants, as well as harbour-front bars, and is the most unspoilt village on Paxos.

The shower, and especially the shower curtain, really could do with a complete makeover. The wiring and arrangement of the electrical sockets in the kitchen seems a bit haphazard and Heath Robinson, but they do the job. The large TV is placed on a wall over the stairs up to the kitchen, and to watch it you'd have to sit at the kitchen table; for us this wasn't a problem as we didn't want to watch it anyway. It would have been nice if there had been a few tea bags or some coffee to greet us, or even a bottle of water in the fridge, but this isn't very important, given the bargain price. Despite these minor criticisms, I would definitely stay there again.

De locatie van Alekos House is echt fantastisch – midden in het charmante Longos, alles op loopafstand, en toch heerlijk rustig. We komen nu voor het tweede jaar op rij naar Longos en de sfeer van het dorp blijft ons aanspreken. Ook de eigenaren van Alekos House zijn vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Het appartement is ruim, wat prettig is met een kind, en biedt een goede uitvalsbasis om het eiland te verkennen.

Helaas is het appartement behoorlijk gedateerd en is er sprake van achterstallig onderhoud. Tijdens een verblijf van een week werd er slechts één keer schoongemaakt. Op verzoek werd gelukkig nog een extra schoonmaak geregeld, maar de basiszorg en netheid laten te wensen over. Het is jammer, want de plek heeft ontzettend veel potentie. We zouden er zelf niet nog eens verblijven, maar blijven zeker terugkomen naar Longos.
