Uncle Eric's Chalet

Everything was fine. Overall it was good.

It needs well maintenance. Because both bathroom was clogged. Water was not draining properly. During the shower waiting 10 minute to drain the water then taking shower again and so on. It is too too expensive according to location.

Everything was great! Lovely old chalet in the centre of Interlaken. Easy walk to both train stations. Very clean, plenty of beds. Owner was extremely helpful on the day we arrived. All communication was clear, friendly and fast. Great for a large group. PS There is now a coffee maker :)

Nothing in particular

We enjoyed Uncle Eric’s Chalet which is supposedly 500 plus years old in Interlaken with certain reservations. The property’s interior is mix of antique and contemporary furniture. Only two bathrooms for a total capacity to accommodate nine guests in five bedrooms are insufficient. We were lucky to be in Interlaken in very pleasant weather condition. However during cold weather, these bathrooms would be very difficult to use in the absence of heaters. Insufficient hot water even in this moderate weather was not enough; perhaps owners are conscious of cost saving. The showers are ill equipped, there’s no holder to keep soap, shampoo etc. The head shower in upper floor is broken; in fact it fell on my head, luckily I didn’t get hurt. Hand shower is broken as well. There’s no holder to hang hand shower. The bottom line is ‘Not Value for Money’.

Nicely located 3 level semi detached house. Close to bus stop and both train stations Interlaken West and OST in walking distances. Grocery store very nearby. Restaurants closeby. 2 bathrooms; 1 on living room floor and other on 1st floor. Attic level bedrooms have to use facilities below them. Spacious dining and living area. Very responsive and helpful host with clear instructions to reach property (which is via an alley from main road)

Points to note / Areas of improvement; Bathroom doors and their traditional lock and turn key mechanism troubled us a lot, better to upgrade them to regular ones to avoid someone getting stuck (just personal opinion, unless it is intentionally left to maintain 500 year old charm). Shower area was very small even for a normal built person.

not bad location, some shops and bakery near by.

What the pictures do not show, low ceiling, un-level floors where kids trip off often, crooked stairs. In summer the house gets super hot and there were only 2 pedestal fans. Could not sleep the entire night. Hard to find the house, host sent a picture with the house number sticked to the gate but when we went there there was no house number on the gate - so we were looking for it for 30 mins. If you go by car its a mess you cannot offload your luggage as the access is on a busy main road. Could find Fungus in the bathrooms. Outdoor area is nothing but a garabage place you do not feel like going there even. Extremely expensive and overrated - wonder if the reviews can even be trusted.

The chalet was very spacious and easily accommodated our group of 10. Nice, quiet location!
