Good.

Good location, nice venue with charming swimming pool area and restaurant. Friendly staff. Close to Paraty downtown and many restaurants and shops.

Bedroom is a bit spartan for a hotel that charges so much and looks so nice on the outside. Old and noisy air conditioning system; shower with curtains that can’t prevent bathroom area from getting all wet.

Beautiful, relaxing stay

Wonderful accommodation. Although it's an old building, it has been beautifully maintained, is peaceful and calm with a beautiful pool and restuarant. Located less than 5 mniutes walk from the historical (cobble stone) town centre, and surrounded by practical shops, banks, restaurants, etc. One of the rare accommodations whereI wish I could have stayed a few more nights!

Disappointed

In principle a nice historic Pousada with a lovely peaceful swimming pool surrounded by plants and trees in the middle of the hotel. Good location just a few minutes walk to the historic centre of Paraty. The bedrooms are a reasonable size, with good airco and the beds were large and comfortable. We enjoyed the breaksfast which had a good selection but the area is too small for number of guests and you often had to wait for the buffet to be refilled/restocked.

I was looking forward to staying at this hotel but the bedrooms are old, dated and need to be refurished. They have an old open bathroom in the bedroom. The toliet does have a door but there is an open gap at the top of one of walls into the bedroom/shower area so no actual privacy. The rooms have an open window in the shower area onto the hotel hallway so from our beds we could hear the people in the next rooms talking and having their showers, guests passing along the hallway, plus the general street noise around the hotel. There were no bins in the bedroom for rubbish. As noted by others we were also charged a 10% service charge on checking out and overall I didn't think the overall offering was good value for the price paid.

Relaxing stay in a beautiful pousada

The location is excellent, just a few steps from the historic center yet quiet enough to sleep well. The property is beautiful, and the pool in the middle creates a small oasis where you can relax and cool down. Breakfast is truly excellent and is served in a lovely veranda that becomes a restaurant in the evening. Overall, it was a very relaxing stay, and I would be happy to come back. I definitely recommend this pousada.

The poolside service could be improved. There is no real bar service by the pool, so you have to get up to order drinks, and the waiting time to be served can be quite long.

Great place but needs small improvements!

The common areas are great and clean. The breakfast is also very complete and delicious! The restaurant serves amazing food and drinks. Happy hour was also great after a day out! The service is great, the staff was always there to help whenever we needed anything and the location is perfect.

There is no privacy in the rooms. All rooms have a sort of window in the bathroom which cannot be closed and you hear the neighbours showering, kids screaming, the noise from the streets and the music from the restaurant. The room is also missing a bedside light, there is only the option to have the main white light on or be in complete dark which a little inconvenient in the afternoon/evenings.

Characterful, boutique hotel in historic building, close to sights but quiet. Beautiful food & pool.

The colonial ear building is beautiful, thoughtfully decorated (with old pictures & local maps, lovely furnishings & textiles) & spacious but intimate. The rooms & bar/restaurant wrap around a small garden with the lovely swimming pool. Plentiful loungers & garden chairs. The property is a nice surprise for its location. Less than 5 minutes walk from the pedestrianised old town, it is on a bustling road into town - shops around, local life going on - but is a haven of quiet & calm as soon as you step inside. Our room (206) was delightful - quiet spacious, it had a king bed, looked over the pool/garden, & had a separate single room which served well for sorting our things out, as we were a couple travelling. Most rooms seemed to be double or twin, or triple with the third bed in the room, so we had the bonus of that extra space. The cheerful colours & window shutters in the rooms make them all delightful. The bar was relaxed & fun - very nice caipirinhas & others varied drinks, sensibly priced. The restaurant was excellent. It has multi-lingual menus via a QR code, with pictures that matched exactly. Quality, presentation & price were all really excellent. The food was delicious, & the (large) shrimp in a cassava & passion fruit sauce (I think I remember it right!) was possibly the most delicious main course I have ever eaten!! We were so impressed we ate there both nights of our stay. Staff were professional but relaxed & friendly. The bonus for us was how exceptionally helpful staff were when I realised 4 days after we left that I had left a jacket behind in the bar area. Bless them - they were quick to reply to my message via WApp, had found the item (but of course could not tell who it belonged to), arranged a quick quote for it to be sent on to Rio (for less than Rs70) & sorted it promptly. They updated me, & were so warm when I told them it had arrived just before our return to UK.

Great stay in Do Principe

Great Pousada with an ideal situation : near to downtown, with a nice swimming pool and plants full of nature. My only note will be about intimacy we can have - in Paraty and the old mansions walls are very thin, like you can easily hear your room neighboor. I had a great time here anyway!

Great location, close to old center. Monkeys and birds in garden. Very friendly staff, also laundry possibility. Good breakfast. Good room, but not very large.

Noisy, okay location with short walk to nicer neighborhood

breakfast was good and staff was friendly

so extremely noisy. the rooms each have a permanently open window in the shower that faces the hallway and some face the street. this means that noise is never blocked out and throughout the night and morning you can hear all the noise from the hotel. this makes it extremely unpleasant to sleep or get any rest. plus the walls are very thin between rooms.

Beautiful property to explore Paraty

Beautiful property right by the bus station. This means you don’t have to drag your luggage for long after you arrive in Paraty (which would be by bus in most cases). The property is beautiful with a great, aesthetic restaurant which ranks in the top 10 restaurants in the city, a big swimming pool in the center and well designed rooms. Restaurants serves superb Caipirinhas, on which you have 1+1 during happy hours. Since we were on our honeymoon, they had a bottle of champagne for us in the room.

Natural light in the room was a bit less. But it also mean the rooms were a bit cooler than what it was outside.

Bedrroms need the same attention as the communal areas. Very dated and also very noisy from the corridors and neighbouring rooms. Breakfast could have had a better selection of fruit. Check-in could have been easier. Online form too long.
