Hard to find the hotel and breakfast is not good. Otherwise ok,
3.0 / 10.0
To be clear, this was a lovely hotel room with partial view of the sea in a quieter Cinque Terre town. The staff were helpful. The sofa made into a bed for our kids and there was a table to sit at in the room. Overall the room itself was nice.
There were few negatives about the hotel/room itself. New towels weren't provided daily except for an extra cost-not a big deal to us. Breakfast didn't start until 8:30 and was quite basic anyway, so if it's a hot day I would recommend hike early, skip this breakfast, and eat later at whatever town you hike to. It was far too hot during our stay to wait until 9 AM to begin a hike.
The biggest negative for the hotel was the difficulty getting to Corniglia during peak tourist season in very hot weather. While there is a bus to get up the hill and comes every ~20 minutes, it was often too full to get on, leaving us to wait for the next bus (especially difficult if you are trying to get luggage on this crowded bus). There is no shade to wait in for the bus by the train station. We were absolutely drenched with sweat by the time we arrived at the top of the hill, and then had to drag our suitcases through a busy passage way and up a few steps to get to the hotel once at the top. We avoided going up and down the hill more than once a day, although my kids really like swimming at Monterosso and Manarola. If it's not peak tourist season, not super hot, or you have minimal luggage, staying in Corniglia would be fine.

Beautiful view, lovely staff

Large, very nice room and lovely balcony (we were in the room Azurro). Good choices and plenty of food for breakfast, (only thing was that it started at 08.15.. if you wanted an earlier start to the day..) Very helpful staff, the breakfast girl as well as by messages helping out with discount code for the cinque terre card. Fridge in room, nice wine glasses, local wine in room to buy. There are stairs, several, also several steps down to breakfast, just good to know! Also, unfortunately loud music from the bar each night until after 10 pm… The shower was also very tiny, and not very practical.. But overall we loved the amazing view and comfortable room alot!

Clean and quaint accommodation with friendly staff, nice breakfast and central location. The bathroom (especially the shower) was a tight fit, but overall, the accommodation was a great value.

Great rustic B&B. Wonderful staff. Quaint and comfortable. You pay for the location not for the trappings. Rustic somewhat basic room but very comfortable. The location is excellent.

We stayed for the second time, this time for 12 nights. The hiking is fantastic. The room was great and the bed very comfortable. Staff are lovely. Breakfast is very good. Very many good restaurants nearby with excellent food. Excellent outdoor bar with delicious cocktails and sea view. And a lovely little cat!

Enjoyed our 3 nights very much. Fabulous location and views
The room did however have a slightly bad smell (dampness maybe) and the lady who served us breakfast on 17th April wasn’t very friendly. She didn’t smile and didn’t make us feel very welcome. We felt we were a nuisance being there for breakfast

Il Magàn - Cinque Terre was a hidden gem in Corniglia. We had a nice room with a bed and pull-out sofa, a table and chairs, and French doors looking out to an amazing view. The bathroom and shower were small but sufficient. Breakfast was included and there were plenty of options for all appetites. The food and coffee were delicious.
Corniglia is a challenging town from the standpoint of distance uphill from the train station. There is a bus that takes passengers from the train station to the town, but it is not regular. You need the Chinque Terre pass in order to ride the bus. The pass covers the train, bus and even bathrooms so one should get the pass.
The area around the inn was great - a mix of shops, bars and restaurants. We felt like a part of the community for the two nights we were there. A half a block from the inn was an overlook allowing for stunning views of sunsets.
We found that we loved being in Corniglia and staying at Il Magàn - Cinque Terre.

The terrace for a beer or breakfast is with outstanding sea view. The staff work at the nearby bar and therefore there for help, yet privacy provided.

It was a last-minute decision to spend a night in Cornelia. This is the town which is UP a big road/hill to get there but if you are patient you get a shuttle to the top then drag your bag up the road to the Bar to check in. The rest is HEAVEN!

Room location and size were great. Bathroom very tiny. Check in at bar next does a breeze. People very friendly

The check in was at the bar across the street and was quick and easy. The room was comfy and our balcony was a delight - a small table with two chairs and a view of the sea. Breakfast is simple and tasty, though limited. Keep in mind what other reviews have said about the tiny showers. If you are large this may not be the place for you. The shower is 2feet by 2 feet and the opening to enter and exit about 15 inches wide. One thing I wished for was a hot pot or microwave- there was no way to heat up water. All said, we loved our stay here.

The room was large and comfortable. We had an amazing view of the water. The online pictures were very accurate. We had large glass doors opening out to a beautiful view and we left them open all night to enjoy the fresh air. The complimentary breakfast was quite good with a diverse menu. I would enjoy staying here again!

If you happen to take the Single Yellow room, then you really need to have luck of having good neighbours in the adjacent room. I had a loud and ill mannered elderly couple as neighbours, probably from America. The rooms aren't sound proof and you hear a lot from the whole house, but this tiny place on the cliffs of Corniglia has its own charm.
Everything is functional and well kept.
The view from the balcony or also the breakfast terrace ist beautiful.
All in all a good place.

We stayed at Il Magàn for four nights and used it as a base to hike to the other towns. The view from the room is amazing, it is cool and cosy, but with enough room for the three of us. The bathroom is tiny, especially the shower, so if you like a spacious bathroom, maybe this is not for you. The bar La Scuna, attached to the property is just downstairs and has the most incredible view to watch the sun set over the coast. Food and drinks were great too. We loved our time here, and really loved the little town of Corniglia. Would definitely stay here again, hopefully we will before too long!

Great place to stay. We really liked this village - seemed more laid back than some of the others which was perfect for us. The room is clean and private. We loved having a snack and wine outside on the patio with a sea view. The breakfast in the morning is outstanding. Hike the trail and go wine tasting nearby.

Unique setting. Cobblestone street that was only available to foot traffic. Convenient location to cafe and restaurant choices. Shuttle bus to the train station was close. Room was spacious. The shower was tiny and a challenge for a larger person. Accessibility for people with mobility challenges would be a major barrier. The views were tremendous. Breakfast each morning on the deck had a view of the hills next to the sea.

Best of 5 cities to stay in Cinque Terre
6.0 / 10.0
It would be nice to know how very desolate this town is in off season. Better to stay in la spezia and just take train in for the day. Definitely not worth staying in off season. Also it is not in Vernazza. Address says Vernazza but it is corneligia. You have to take a bus up the hill to get to this place. If you miss the bus, u have to walk like 40 flights of stairs striaght up a hill.
Not for elderly, super small shower no big man can fit in the door, stairs all the way walk, weak lady can't carry luggage, no one at entry to help, no English speaking in town, no magnify mirror bathroom, no working outlet, no American adapter, little breakfast, Broken toilet seat, no coffee maker, sometimes broken toilet, town is shut down off season. Don't stay anywhere other than LA spezia in off season

Served it’s purpose; relatively low cost; friendly host.
The “Verde” room was a large multi-purpose room, great for two people. The bathroom - shower / toilet was incredibly tight - could not bend over in shower, it was only 2’square, and your knees hit the shower stall when on the toilet. Breakfast was delicious, but not served until bistro across the way opened up at 8:15 am. As early birds, waiting for our morning coffee was rough! A kettle and coffee / tea in the room would have been a nice addition to the refrigerator.

This B&B was amazing—a quiet little street with the associated restaurant and bar directly across from us! Our room was such a delight—comfortable bed, large bathroom, beautiful balcony with room for 2 to enjoy a drink with an incredible view of the harbor.

Corniglia is beautiful. Easy to use as a base to explore rest of Cinque Terre. Check-in was very convenient at the bar across the street. The view from the apartment is gorgeous. Restaurants all over the place and not too crowded with tourists.

Perfect location, easy to get to with breakfast included. Only complaint: The shower was extremely small and the hot water was not consistent. However I would stay here again!

Il Magan offered a quaint and lovely apartment with a recently refurbished bathroom. The staff was so nice and welcoming and allowed us to store our luggage after we checked out so we could hike the Cinque Terre. We can't wait to return.

Il Magàn is a little house with four rooms in the center of Corniglia, one of the Cinque Terre. It is connected to a bar and restaurant, and you will get your breakfast on a terrace overlooking the Ligurian Sea. Our room also had a balcony facing the ocean, the room was cosy and the service excellent.

Very nice hotel. Quite room overlooking part of the village and the beautiful sea. The bed was very comfortable, the best so far in Italy that we have slept on. The room was clean, recently remodeled and quite. There was a little refrigerator too. The breakfast was good as well. It was served at the adjoining restaurant outside under umbrellas overlooking the water. Checkin was smooth and everyone was helpful. Most if not all the people we encountered spoke English. Would absolutely recommend this hotel and would there again. We parked our car at the La Spezzia train station and road the train into Corniglia. Would recommend doing that as parking is very limited. Trains and buses are easy to navigate.

We spent 4 nights at Il Magan in Corniglia (Vernazza) in order to hike between the Cinque Terra towns. Located on the narrow, pedestrian-only Main Street, it was easy to find. However, you do have to be ready to wheel or carry your luggage. Check-in was easy at the La Scuna Bar which doubles as Reception. The staff was really nice and helpful. We enjoyed a sunset cocktail and our daily included breakfasts. We booked a water view room that was spotless and comfortable. The bathroom was small, but clean and contemporary. After hiking to other villages, we were further convinced that Corniglia was the best, central location and we were delighted with our stay at Il Magan!
