We stayed in a traditional Japanese room with private onsen. The room was lovely. The private onsen was a treat. Meals were traditional Japanese and beautifully prepared and presented. My partner’s gluten allergy was accommodated well.

A bit of a culture change for the uninitiated, but this hotel is incredible. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Breakfasts are just lovely and served in a traditional environment that sets you up for the day. Wish we could have stayed for longer.

We had a lovely family stay at this ryokan in Shibu Onsen. Our room was river-view, with a beautiful sitting area. It was also a half-board rate, which meant we got to enjoy traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner each day. The public bath I used was lovely, especially the outdoor area. We also used the private onsen as a family, which was great! Easy to walk around town, and the shuttle service to the train station and the snow monkeys was very helpful. The staff were so hospitable and kind, we felt very cared for during our stay.
