We stayed at the Mariposa when we first came to Belize. We were impressed by the staff, the cabanas, the facility, and the food! Oh my god! The food! A simple menu, but the chef, ***, prepares each item perfectly, every time. We had reluctantly signed up the first night… thinking resort food… and ended up loving our trips to the dining room as we ate every meal we could there. Everything was so fresh and prepared perfectly.
Our flights were canceled due to a large storm in the US and we immediately decided to return to the Mariposa! To see ***, ***, *** and the rest of the staff… to take another adventure with *** and ***…. And to luxuriate in Solizi’s food! We look forward to returning again soon… truly one of our most memorable stays anywhere!

We enjoyed our stay at Mariposa. Upon arrival, the staff was friendly and took a lot of time explaining what the property had to offer. I personally loved the walking trails at the lodge. It added a nice touch!
This is a jungle lodge. Prepare to hear the jungle around you. We were amazed at how loud the Howler Moneys were. The room also comes equipped with a fly swatter so that should tell you bugs are to be expected… again, it’s the jungle.
Mariposa is located about 30 minutes outside of the town San Ignacio. The roads are dark at night with lots of twists and turns. If you don’t appreciate a drive and nature, this is not the place for you. If you do appreciate and enjoy being away from the commotion and enjoy natures beauty, this IS the place for you!
