Wingate by Wyndham Lake George

I stayed here with my two daughters, ages 8 and 9, for a family vacation, and unfortunately, our experience was horrific. We expected a clean, comfortable room, but that was far from what we received. We arrived a little early and were told we would have to wait to check in, which was completely understandable. Once we were finally able to check in, we immediately noticed that the room smelled very musty. We initially tried not to think much of it, but the problems quickly became apparent. When we went to shower, there was only shampoo and a tiny bar of soap provided. I called the front desk and was told that was all the hotel offered. Fine—we made do. However, when we went to use the shower, the curtain was bright orange and looked as though it was completely saturated with urine. It was absolutely disgusting. Afterward, we went to lie down and rest, only to notice a huge cluster of cobwebs directly above one of the beds. My daughters were terrified and immediately worried that there were spiders nearby. I tried to calm them down, but we ended up sleeping on the opposite bed. Then I noticed that approximately half of the ceiling was covered in black spots that appeared to be mold. This also seemed to explain the strong, musty, mildew-like smell in the room. To make matters worse, our room key had to be replaced four times because it repeatedly stopped working. At one point, we couldn't get into our room late at night. As a woman traveling alone with two young children, being locked out of our room late at night was extremely stressful and frightening. I brought all of these concerns to management and asked if they could please clean the shower curtain, remove the cobwebs, and address the black spots on the ceiling. Maintenance was sent to inspect the room, but there was a significant language barrier, and I was unable to clearly communicate with him. I ultimately went back to management, and they offered to move us to another room. We had to pack up all of our belongings and relocate, which was extremely inconvenient. Thankfully, the second room was somewhat better. It smelled fresher and was noticeably cooler. The bathroom was cleaner, although there was still rust on the ceiling and fixtures. The room also had a charging station for phones, which was a nice feature—but unfortunately, that didn't work either. Overall, this was an extremely disappointing experience. Between the cleanliness issues, possible mold, disgusting shower curtain, cobwebs, malfunctioning room keys, and broken amenities, this hotel fell far below what I would consider an acceptable standard. Traveling with two young children made the situation even more upsetting. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend this hotel based on our experience.

The hotel was clean, but there was substantial water damage in the room to the ceiling and walls, so bad that there was a gap between the two. The AC unit in front reception area was leaking with visible water damage. Hallway ac unit on second floor covered in plastic actively leaking all over the carpet. Check in was fairly smooth, although everyone was crowded in the foyer at the same time. We had the king suite with fold out couch for my daughter- they do not provide any bedding for that and we bought her blankets at a local store. There was NO Breakfast offered- the sign said there was but in the morning it said it was closed and we ended up just driving to Dunkin about 10 mins away. Overall not terrible and it was convenient to stay overnight versus driving down in the morning, we just think that the price point should be lower for this hotel due to its condition.
