DO STAY at the Stay Hostel

The location is simply amazing, and the best part is the super friendly and helpful staff. Plus the terrace is lovely! The bed was comfortable, the room was spacious, bathrooms are near the room - a positive thing is that they are not in the room so the roommates are not bothered by you taking a shower. Each bed has a spacious wardrobe which can be locked. The employees also remind you at the beginning that some basic rules of normal conduct have to be followed, which is a great plus. I loved this hostel!

Good value for money, comfort and clean, but expect a bit of noise and some not so polite staff.

Its a big building on six floors, rooms are good value for money. The mural of Prince on the wall was extra.

Noisy, the soundproofing is not very good. Staff can be excellent, but also some of them are not high profile in politness.

A very good choice to stay

I have stayed before and probably I am gonna stay there again. Friendly stuff, spacious room, heating, but most important: it is located in the center of the city I also love the design/stencils on the wall of each room.

Not something I didn't like, but more of a suggestion. A rag or a towel for the floor to soak up the water from the shower.

Absolutely nothing.

When checking in I saw a lot of older people who, by definition, are definitely not youth. I’m not an ageist but I deliberately booked a youth hostel and not a regular hotel or airbnb because I (24M) wanted the youth hostel experience. When I asked the staff why are there so many not-youths, he simply said it’s not the youth hostel policy to decline bookings of non-youths. This is mind numbing. To add on, the smoking balcony is located inside the bathroom. When I was there the older people would smoke and not close the door - whole bathroom smells like smoke as a result. The showers are terrible. No tray to put soap, no hooks to put clothes, nozzle is broken, water shooting in all directions. In short, PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE. If you’re looking for a terrible stay then please feel free to waste your money here.

Superb Location. Amazing wonderful staff

Super Hostel right in the center of Thessaloniki with the most amazing staff. The staff was super helpful, always up for a chat, and giving the best recommendations what do to do in and out of the city. Elais, the gyros with mustard sauce was the best Gyros I had in the whole city.

Just a small detail, I booked a private room with a double bed, and the mattress was a little worn out one side.

The staff was nice.

The property was okay, but it was not clean. In the bathroom was the bucket which was used in the mornings to clean but the bucket was standing there all day long and it was smelling badly. Then they used the same water again to clean the for so the whole bathroom was smelling. Besides that they had bedbugs.

Provide some blankets, please!

The location- amazing and staff- really nice!

Ok- big problem is at the end of September to provide only sheets but NOT BLANKET. I was freezing and asked for blanket, but it turned out, that there is none, as they start to put blankets after Oct.15th... The staff was really nice and suggested to turn on the air-conditioning at 27, but this is not an option in dormitory, where 3 other people are sleeping. Don't want to mention how non-eco is this. Just to have some blankets will be much easier. The showers and toilets need some repair too.

Familiar with this place and stay there once or twice a year. Location suits us and it is less than 10 min on foot from city center. Room fridge is small but better worked than that one in the other room last year.

Technical maintenance was much MUCH better in previous years Lock on the door of the room worked only in the mechanical key mode (OK), contactless key card (which is main lock mode) was not operational since check in until departure two days later (NOT REPARED ON TWO WORKING DAYS - NOT WEEKEND)!!! Inner door in the one of lifts was not operational and only warning information was attached inside; also during two days we spent there - SAFETY ISSUE!!!

Friendly staff, clean room, good location. The lockers were big enough to fit my entire travel bag, which is a plus. I could get a hair dryer from the reception.

The upper beds had a few centimeters of space between them and the walls, enough to be possible to drop your phone/glasses down if you're not careful enough. Some toilets didn't have a working lock.

Decent place, just not the right people in that moment

Good bed facilities, with a lamp and socket and curtains and a closed wardrobe next to each bed, comfy new beds, good air conditioning in the room, rooftop terrace with the view, great location, good information about possibilities around.

Unfriendly/ aggressive/ mean and completely disrespectful other guests, both in the room and in the common spaces, with some of the staff not really willing to react and help resolving the problems. Quite a huge hostel with no space/ vibe for travellers to socialise. On the one hand maybe independent on the staff, on the other still somehow these people were admitted and attracted to the place.

Nice place to stay, lovely staff

Very friendly staff and understandable. I was able to easily switch from a bed in a shared bedroom to a private room with no extra fees.

Though I was on the higher floor where I assumed the private rooms are, around 9pm it was a bit noisy but it's to be expected, not a deal breaker. I will definitely stay here again ☺️
