The inn is in a great location, with lovely views on all sides. It is handy for Harrogate, Knaresborough and Pately Bridge and there are some great walks in the area. We liked the room and the bathroom, with a fab shower and big fluffy towels. The breakfast was excellent, with a great choice from a menu and not the usual buffet-style offering. The food was generally very good, although a couple of the meals were not as good as the others we had. The staff were delightful and couldn't do enough to help us enjoy our stay. They were very accommodating on our first night when we wanted to watch the football. The bar was cosy and welcoming, with open fires. We just loved the place.
We did not like the fact that there were so many dogs on the premises. We don't enjoy eating with dogs around us - we don't think it is hygienic to allow them where food is being served. Additionally there are guest rooms where dogs are allowed. On more than one occasion, we were disturbed by dogs barking and on one night someone was returning late and knocking persistently to be let in. When eventually they were let in, a dog started barking near our room. This was well after midnight. On another occasion, I opened the door to our room and almost fell over a dog which was just standing outside!
