Location was perfect for visiting Cologne!
10.0 / 10.0
Lovely warm and welcoming staff, the whole hotel is so beautifully decorated. We had a wonderful stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of staying in Cologne. The location is perfect and our room was so clean and everything was top end.
Nothing.

This hotel was not at all what I was expecting or hoping for. As two friends, traveling together to visit Christmas markets, we were a bit shocked to walk into the Savoy. It felt a lot like walking into a brothel. It is clean and attempts to be luxurious, but serious key elements for a luxury hotel are missing, which I will get into in the "do not like" section. Overall, it is a clean place to stay if you are looking for a partner, or partner seeking partner, experience.
For 400 Euro a night, I expect coffee or tea in my room, even if self prepared. I also expect more than one single towel per person. I expect a bath that can actually be filled or a shower that does more than trickle. I expect a "spa" hotel to have a spa that stays open more than 4 hours a day. (The spa is only open from 5-9pm.) I expect a 4 start hotel with bar/restaurant to serve more than one item on the menu for food. It was a bad attempt at trying to be a luxury hotel and instead being a high end brothel.

Characterful decor, proximity to the station, cathedral and many restaurants . We were upgraded to an apartment that was very spacious

Amazing breakfast and a great rooftop bar. The rooms are very big and spacious. Everything in the hotel is nicely decorated.
It was a bit hot in the bar area but I think there might have been some maintenance work ongoing while we were there. But the AC in the room worked perfectly!

I was looking for an hotel near the station with a min 25 m2 surface area, quiet, with a desk. I wanted a hotel with a suitably equipped gym...I almost got it. The desk was not one you could comfortably work on but it was there. The view from the corner room was of the cathedral and the railway station (inevitably); this was charming and amusing in equal measures.
The hotel is next to a rough area taken over by the usual un-german shops: kebab, chicha, mobile phone plastic accessories and the ubiqutous middle eastern bride outfits (why????). BUT, there as a couple of supermarkets to shop from if you do not want restaurants rich food. The jacuzi in the room was working !!!!! nice one. Staff was present and helpful.
The hotel is best described as a tart's boudoir. The decor is a cross between liberace and a bordello. I am sure some people might be fans of this. There were a number of issues with the lights in the room, these were never resolved. Confusion reigns in reception about the rooms they have. We were told our room was on the Asian floor, looking at the decor it was clearly African. LOL...do they know they run a hotel? I would not stay in that hotel again...the area, the tartiness of the rooms etc....this is better suited for people who like a heavy, dark, rather suffocating decor than I am. There was no option to eat expect flamekuchen...not great on a windy rainy sunday when everything seems closed. Koln is an ugly rough city, this hotel is its metaphor.

Good location, roof top bar nice, bed comfortable.
No water in rooms, very surprising and when asked if water can be provided was told to drink the tap water or buy water from mini bar. Not really suitable answer in my opinion for a hotel positioned to be premium.
No toiletries in the room, tooth brush pack, ear bud packs, etc which is expected in premium hotel.
No cooked breakfast, very limited continental offering, hams, cheeses, breads, yogurts. There is scrambled egg and broccoli but overall very limited.
No separate shower in room, only bath tub shower.

The location was good. We were able to walk to the Cathedral from our hotel. It was near to the train station, which took us to and from the airport.
The lights in the shower rotated through different colours.

The hotel itself is very nice and the staff were great. Room was very nice and well designed.
However, the skybar was closed, so no sunset cocktails. I would have booked elsewhere if I had known this.
The food options were basically non existent , 4 appetisers including 1 soup and 1 salad, then 4 flammkuchen options....

No tea and coffee making facilities.

We stayed in one of the apartments. It was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The hotel is within walking distance to the cathedral, the river, and the old town. The staff is very nice and helpful. We had a comfortable stay and really enjoyed staying at this hotel and definitely recommend it to others.
The fact that there was a 10 euro charge per night for a baby cot. Also, the parking is very expensive.

The people at the reception are super nice, polite and helpful.
The room was clean and tidy.
The location is great since is just 5 minutes walking from the train station, though the surroundings are not really nice, specially if you travel alone. But this is more a fact link to the city rather than to the hotel.
The neighbourhood is a bit crappy, though not dangerous.
The breakfast was too expensive, 30€!

Quiet and comfortable room.
Staff coming into our room for no reason and taking the extra door access card. Reception could not explain why our door access card was taken and could not explain what staff was doing in our room. We canceled the room service and no room service was provided as requested, but they were in our room.

Staff very friendly. Location is fine. Nice and quiet (although you do hear a train now and then). Parking around the corner.
I prefer my bed softer. Pictures look better than real life.

It was fancy
The online part of the booking and checking the rooms was pretty confusing and tedious

Amazing property, excellent style and exceptional service
Location is great for the train station but feels slightly unsafe when walking back at night. Otherwise cannot fault this amazing hotel.
