Review: I recently stayed at Toyabali Resort and had a truly relaxing experience. Location: The resort is tucked away in a quiet area near Tulamben, perfect for anyone seeking peace and stunning ocean views. It’s just a short drive from the diving spots, which was very convenient for my trip. Room: My villa was spacious, beautifully decorated with Balinese style, and spotless. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I loved waking up to the sound of the ocean. The outdoor bathroom was a unique and memorable touch. Service: The staff were warm, attentive, and always ready to help. They arranged my diving trip,massage and yoga class, making everything stress-free. Facilities & Food: The pool overlooks the sea and is perfect for watching sunrise or sunset. The breakfast was fresh and delicious, with both Western and Indonesian options. Value: For the level of comfort, service, and location, I think the resort offers excellent value for money.

Room for Improvement: Wi-Fi could be a little faster, especially for those who need to work remotely. The entrance to the hotel is a bit hard to find, and I hope the last stretch of road leading to the property can be improved.

- Restaurant / Food: Food quality was very poor. The only tolerable dish was the chicken satay. There does not appear to be a dedicated chef; food seems to be prepared by general staff. I tried spaghetti, an omelet, and chicken curry, and all of them were bad. When I pointed out that the chicken curry was extremely watery and not close to how it should be, I asked to replace it with another dish. The staff attempted to charge me for the replacement, and when I politely asked to remove it from the bill, I received pushback and an unpleasant attitude from the manager. Considering this is one of the most expensive resorts in Tulamben, the food and service quality should be much higher. In the end, I ate most of my meals elsewhere in Tulamben. - Hot water: The hot water temperature is excessively high. It is very easy to burn yourself, even when just washing your hands, if you do not carefully mix in enough cold water. - Jacuzzi / water heating: The resort uses a small-capacity water boiler, which makes it impossible to fill the jacuzzi with warm water. The water runs out quickly, leaving the jacuzzi cold and not enjoyable to use. A tankless water heater would be a much better solution. - Water & sustainability: There is no water cooler available at the restaurant or reception. Instead, guests receive two plastic water bottles per day, which contributes to plastic waste. In Bali especially, it would be much better to offer water refill stations so guests can refill reusable bottles. - Communication & guest experience: For several days before my departure, I was the only guest at the resort, yet I felt largely ignored by the staff. The restaurant could close as early as 6 pm without any prior notice, even though it was usually open until 9 pm. Construction work also started on the path to the shore, making access more difficult, but no communication or warning was provided.
