Large hotel with lots of excellent facilities that may be trying to online its reception facilities
Swimming pool and changing excellent. Staff in restaurant v professional and friendly.
Checked in on phone. Got message to use phone as key. Didn't work , had to turn with all luggage to reception to collect cards. All that phasing about and still needed a human to sort it out. There has got to be a limit to computerising a system & denying the friendly welcome at reception- part of the good hotel experience. Did not appreciate being charged from parking in open - although forewarned of this by previous guest comments. No choice in out of town location where to park.

Truly a 5 star hotel. Looks like a cruise ship

Overall a great stay but a lack of attention to maintaining a high level of service would make me hesitate to book again
Lovely accommodation through out. Great bar service, particularly Callum in the Olive Tree bar.
On line check in did not work. Huge queues at check in. Hot and cold taps were wrongly connected and the sink was close to being blocked. Very costly to park.

Nice and fancy but definitely could be better.
Clean and tidy.
Feels luxurious.
Nice spa.
Breakfast was nice to have it served in our bedroom!
Can’t say I loved the food and for the price I did hope to. We eat in steak on six I believe it was called. Again, feels luxurious but didn’t hit the spot for me.

All show, no quality.
It is a vast, impressive venue in terms of its scale and the variety it offers.
Everything, extremely inefficiency check in process (queued for 45 minutes), insincere staff. Difficulty to use spa due to busyness of hotel. Dated rooms with poor cleaning standards (hairs all over bathroom and odd marks on the chairs). Paid £180 for a basic room that didn’t even have bottled water in it. The Celtic Manor may look good but lacks the attention to detail many smaller, cheaper hotels pull off seamlessly.

Lovely place to stay, probably better if you wanted to stay on site and enjoy the facilities rather than just a bed for
Great location, beautiful setting and although we didn’t have time to use them, facilities and things to do for all the family looked great. Even a pumpkin patch for the kids and hotel decorated for Halloween.
Thought the rooms could have had more refinements for the price paid, no water in room, no mini bar and hairdryer didn’t work.

Discriminatory Treatment and Poor Handling of Simple Situation
Racism
I paid £448 for two rooms expecting a peaceful stay. A friend came briefly to drop something off, and I invited him in for a quiet conversation. There was no disturbance to anyone, yet within 40 minutes the hotel sent two security guards to my room without warning.
A simple phone call or polite reminder would have been enough, but instead I was made to feel targeted and discriminated against by the duty manager’s behaviour. The whole experience was distressing and ruined my stay. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone who expects to be treated with fairness and respect.

we booked this hotel last minute as a treat but felt very disappointed.
The bed was a very small double and probably the smallest we have slept in
The hotel spa facilities were fully booked so my wife could not use them
We had to wait until 6:45pm before we were able to use the pool which had a knock on effect on the time we had dinner
breakfast was available until 10:30am but when we arrived at 10am there was virtually no hot food available and a lot had been cleared away. The breakfast charges were cancelled and we had free one night's parking as rather disappointing compensation

Poor Quality, poor service, poor food
I'm afraid we didn't enjoy our stay at celtic Manor which was hugely disappointing
The accommodation was not only dirty it had huge red stain on the carpet , I did complain and was offered another room however it had a terrible view and was literally the same.
We sat and had a few drinks at the bar and ordered some light food, we had to ask for cutlery alongside condiments however by the time it arrived food was cold ,
Staff were constantly cleaning which I understand when you have very poor families leaving mess around however when your trying to relax and hoovers are going, cleaning products stinking constantly it felt like a butlins resort which is not what you would expect at the cost of everything,
We were initially booked for a swim however gave it a miss due to lots of children
We ate in the grill and im afraid the food came quickly and mildly undercooked again we complained politely but no apology or interest was paid to us and it certainly wasn't cheap,
We aren't people who complain rather the opposite but I feel the service was poor, our complaint was over looked and zero apology was given
Do better celtic Manor
It was supposed to be a break and relaxing but sadly it was the complete opposite
We have explained above ,
Rooms were poor , shabby, stained, and certainly not in good order

Stay spoilt by poor eating options and not good value for money.
-- Spacious hotel with good room size
-- Excellent activity facilities if you want this option
-- There are 5 restaurants in the complex but only 3 on site. Former only accessible by driving or courtesy bus. Of latter, 1 was shut for 2 of our 3 nights, the steak house was overpriced and the Carvery/Buffet was a one price £40 eat all you want which is no good if all you want is 1 course.
-- For our 3 nights there (not 3rd night due to illness), we ate all our meals at the hotel, but on the second evening, my wife was violently ill with sickness and diarrhoea, possibly caused by the fish she ate in the Carvery. I did not eat the same and was ok.
-- Parking at £20 a night was excessive. Most hotels do not charge for parking.

I'm saddened to see how much this originally very lovely hotel has deteriorated since 2010
Very helpful staff at Reception - in particular a kind woman who helped me get some paracetamol for a bad headache around 9pm after the in-hotel mall had closed. Steak on Six was outstanding - very pricey (For Wales), but exceptionally good quality - borderline Michelin Star standard, and a beautiful restaurant conveniently in the hotel. Probably the best meal I have had in years, and service there was top notch.
Clear signs of deterioration and lack of proper upkeep. My room was clean, however things like chipped tiles in the bathroom, stains, wear and tear of appliances, misleading pictures of the room sizes on their own website, a very janky and slightly broken/leaking balcony sliding door, hard pillows, an empty minibar (in a 5 star hotel, really?! Almost as if they don't trust the clientele, although I can hardly blame them...) No complimentary water in the room. Cheap plastic cups instead of glasses (again, trust of clientele etc). Generally, because of the low quality of the other guests who seemed to be buying the cheap flogged getaway deals, there was a sense that customers are treated more like children and many restrictions were placed on things that at any other 5 star hotel would not exist e.g. only getting 90 minutes max in the spa for the duration of your entire stay, and having to book this in advance! (Covid happened guys, it's over now... although they kept the Covid-era Spa booking system to reduce numbers going to the Spa so they can flog membership to even more people who weren't staying at the hotel!!), almost everything being something charged as extra, etc. During my stay, I was woken at night by the screams of a violent and very drunk man who was swearing and fighting with people right outside the main entrance, before then collapsing and bursting into tears. The critical mass of 'low lifes' staying there was enough to make it very noticable - so at times, it felt more like Butlins during half term than like a 5 star hotel. If you plan on staying, ensure you get an exceptionally good price, and prepare for some disappointment. Probably best bring your own drinks, snacks, and pillows too!

Very relaxing and peaceful, really feels like the place takes care of you
Breakfast, room service, selection of food, the view from the hotel lobby and room, variety of musical performances.
I understand the time slots in the pool, but 2x45min slots doesn't seem enough for 3-4 days

Enjoyable stay
Nice hotel in a convenient location for exploring the area.
The bathroom door in our room wasn't quite as clean as it should have been where people's hands pull the door closed. There were greasy hand prints. Difficult to see but you could feel them to the touch. A simple wipe with a cloth would have sorted but had obviously been missed by housekeeping. Otherwise the cleanliness was generally very good in both rooms we used.

Lovely hotel, food was good but contacting hotel difficult.
The hotel was a lovely venue for a 75th birthday celebration. It was so frustrating trying to get through to someone to book a large table. The telephone system kept cutting out and even after numerous attempts to get someone to return my call it didn’t happen. Three of us were trying at the same time and got really frustrated.
After speaking to the other guests in our party soon realised that our rooms were the same but we had paid far more than the others. And to add insult to injury we had to pay extra for breakfast. They had breakfast included in the price and also received a bottle of wine and Welsh cakes in their room. How can this be right? Very disappointing.

A little disappointing and becoming ordinary maybe
Excellent breakfast
Queue was ludicrous at 3.15pm to check in. Was told after queuing for 20minutes that my room was not ready. I mentioned check in for Signature Rooms was ‘guaranteed’ at 3pm but was told this wasn’t the case by staff on check in. I queued all over again and when I explained to another member of staff I was actually upgraded to room 933. This was a super room but I was surprised to find a puke of used towels in the ticket room nearest the entrance door to room. I complained to reception about this approximately 5.00pm as I awaited transport to the Grill restaurant and was told they would be removed. They were still there when I checked out at 10.20am this morning! Not the quality I would expect! Disappointing

Had to go there on this occasion. Wouldn’t go back
Breakfast was ok
Food in the bar was awful. Cold, took ages to arrive and tasteless.
Our room was like an oven when we checked in and thermostat was at 28.5. Air conditioning was not working. Rang reception who sent two fans which blew hot air around the room. Had to complain at the front desk in person to get a room change. Lost our view and had a room overlooking the kitchens so quite smelly.
