Thoroughly enjoyed our stay
Well deserving of its very high rating. The property is a hidden gem set in beautiful grounds, with a large swimming pool. It is calm & relaxing, but it is Ivan who ensures one has a wonderful stay. Friendly, efficient, helpful, & always with a smile. His recommendations were excellent & saved us lots of time.

Really nice rooms as we booked two and got the 4th floor for ourselves. Excellent pool area! Close to the old town - 15 min walk. Really nice host!

We want to return; don't say that about many places we visit!
This is a great place, the owner Ivan is both a charming and interesting man and a good host, and the premises superb. As the only guests we were perhaps spoiled slightly. Asti itself is really worth a visit with the centre about 10 minutes walk away, dating back to pre Roman times. Some might want a bigger breakfast but fresh croissant, juice and coffee was fine for our tastes.
Not a problem for us (able bodied and fit) to walk down and back to town but some might find the uphill return journey onerous. Access to the top floor accommodation (3 storeys) might also be a struggle for some, there is an elevator but check with Ivan if it can be used if you need it. The only comment we would otherwise make though is that the bed sheets and pillows/pillow cases could be more luxurious. White cotton is nicer!

Highly recommended. A great host and facilities.
A warm greeting from Ivan who went out of his way to make us feel welcome. Nothing was too much for him to enable us to have a carefree stay. From breakfast and drinks from the bar to restaurant bookings and recommendations for sightseeing. Would highly recommend staying here.
Not so much didn’t like but the property is at the end of a very steep road - OK if driving or have no mobility issues, but will not suit everyone.

Ex Villa Gastaldi is the jewel of Asti, made exceptional by Ivan the host.
An impressive villa in quiet surroundings, a small park in the city. Fabulous pool. Ivan is an outstanding host, we arrived as guests and left as friends.
Nothing. The location is a 10 to fifteen minute walk into the centre of Asti, however this does ensure a quiet and relaxing stay.

Wir kommen gerne wieder ...
Eigentlich kann ich nur das wiederholen, was ohnehin bereits von den Vorbuchern geschrieben wurde: Unsere Tage in der Ex Villa Gastaldi waren tool, Ivan ein perfekter Gastgeber. Frühstück auf der Terrasse am Pool mit scrambled eggs vom Griller ... wo bekommt man das sonst? Sämtliche Tipps (egal ob zu Restaurants oder Ausflugszielen) von Ivan waren spitze, wir wollen keinen davon missen. Asti und auch die Hügel der Umgebung bis hinunter nach Alba sollte man unbedingt einmal gesehen und erlebt haben. Wir planen einmal im September wiederzukommen, wenn das Palio stattfindet, das muss ein tolles Erlebnis sein.
An sich waren wir rundum zufrieden, daher Jammern am höchsten Niveau: Vielleicht wären - im Sinne der Nachhaltigkeit - zwei Gläser statt zwei Plastikbecher für das Aqua Minerale zeitgemäßer. Aber wie gesagt, das ist Jammern am höchsten Niveau.
