Bude has everything for everyone, including wonderful beaches for relaxing and making sandcastles, rockpools to explore at low tide, and cafes from which to observe it all. All year long, the rolling waves are ideal for surfing, and the walks along the restored canal or along the North Cornwall coastal route provide an excellent opportunity to explore and admire the stunning scenery. Bude also includes a fantastic golf course, an indoor pool, a bowling alley/indoor play area, and the Bude Castle Heritage Centre. There's also a good assortment of local shops, supermarkets, cafes, bars, and restaurants, as well as an outstanding Information Center. The ruins of a massive iron age hill fort at Warbstow Bury, from which panoramic views can be seen, are only a short drive away. Take the coast road north to see the lonely lighthouse perched above the sea at Hartland Point, or walk or ride a donkey down lovely Clovelly's steep and cobblestone village street (no cars permitted) to the port and tavern far below. The small cove of Crackington Haven, Boscastle, King Arthur's castle at Tintagel, Doc Martin's Port Wenn at Port Isaac, and more spectacular surfing beaches at Polzeath can all be found by following the coast in the opposite way.
