Lavender Retreat Shepherds Hut with private hot tub

The shepherd's hut was very cute! Perfect location (we climbed Hen's Cloud, the Roaches, and hiked to Lud's Church). Views from the hut are amazing - we woke up to a beautiful sunrise and we were able to sit in bed with the door wide open letting the light in as the sun came up over the trees. Amenities included Murphy bed (comfortable enough, easy to pull down and put away), hob, microwave, kettle, toaster and crockery and cutlery. There is a toilet, small sink and shower. There are towels and toilet rolls supplied. There is also a heater, but in August the hut was quite warm at night. Donna was very helpful when we arrived, showing us how to get the key, do the bed, and operate the hot tub. She then left us to it. Check in and out is easy - the key is in a coded lock box. We couldn't have been happier staying in Lavender Retreat. We had a great long weekend. We will definitely book again. Thanks, Donna and Ed!

Having a hot tub was a draw for us - especially after coming back from an 8 mile hike up the Roaches! However, the hot tub smelled like the water had not been changed for some time and this attracted flies. We used the hot tub anyway (a few drinks later) but we did feel like the pond-like smell tainted our excitement somewhat. I know that Donna will say the hot tub had been treated with chlorine and I am sure that is true, but in my opinion (and I'm the one who sat in it!) the water needs changing more often. Additionally, there are a lot of rules around the use of hot tub. This is, of course, understandable. But not being allowed to turn the heating up was disappointing.

Great location! Beautiful walks are right on your doorstep, with Hen Cloud and Ramshaw Rocks offering some lovely routes and stunning scenery. The two-person hot tub was amazing and easy to use, and the hammock was a lovely added touch. A perfect little getaway for couples!

We really enjoyed our stay, although there were a few small things that could make the experience even better. The signal was quite poor and there was no Wi-Fi, which made it a little difficult to stay connected. The shower also ran out of hot water quite quickly and became cold. The bed was a little uncomfortable, as the mattress needed to be thin enough to fold away in the shepherds hut, which unfortunately seemed to compromise some of the comfort. Overall, though, it’s a lovely place with lots of potential and would only need a little freshening up and a few small improvements to make it even more amazing

Lovely scenery, quiet and the owners were friendly and made sure we had enough of everything.
