The Seaview Snug

A great location, close to town and the sea; ideal for a getaway. I loved that the host provided lots of games, books, playing cards and a handbook of things to do in the area and restaurants: really thoughtful and well organised. Paul was easy to contact and very helpful. A lovely top floor flat with a good shower (essential when sea swimming), a good firm bed and the basic condiments for cooking.

Very clean, lots of little touches that gave it a homely feel. Location wise was good, close to the harbour which is where we needed for a wedding. Mini bar honestly box nice touch, very reasonable prices for beers, gin & tonic and prosecco. Comfy bed and a lovely hot shower.

I wasn’t expecting it to be doorway next to a barbers on the main road. I was actually expecting a ground floor apartment with a view, but maybe I just didn’t read it properly :) I was probably taking ‘Seaview’ too literally. Only thing that would’ve been handy would be a full length mirror somewhere. We were going to a wedding so would’ve been nice to have an actual proper mirror for when we were getting ready. And maybe a some shower gel, but that’s my fault for forgetting it 🤣

the apartment is nicely arranged and in a good location

unfortunately, there were several issues: the windows don’t close properly and have been partially patched with adhesive tape. unfortunately that doesn’t do much to keep the cold and the wind. The host has set the central heating to reset at 10 C. every time I changed it, after a couple of hours it was back to 10 C. I emailed to ask to keep it at 19, which was done only for part of the day, and then it just went back to 10. it’s not suitable when you have a guest staying for several days. In addition, the fridge is broken and freezes everything solid. Even cider got frozen solid, so it’s not just mildly off. it meant that I bought groceries on my first evening, and then I had to throw everything away. I mentioned it to the host, who indeed said he had already heard about it form a previous guest, but hoped the problem would fix itself. I’m not sure how a fridge is supposed to fix itself. I ended up cutting my stay one day short and I didn’t even ask for a refund because I found it pointless.
