Doolinsunset

We enjoyed our double room at Doolin Sunset. It was cozy, quiet, private and clean—everything needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was also very comfy and the shower was great. We loved all the windows that brought in natural light, farm and sea views and fresh air. We enjoyed chatting with the hosts, Martin and Carmel, and meeting other guests at breakfast which made for a more authentic experience!

The online photos indicating a common lounge area/sitting room with a fireplace were sadly not available for use. It would be helpful to update online photos so guests are not shocked upon arrival that this is a lived-in personal home.

Carmel and Martin are super welcoming hosts, we loved our two-night stay in their home! It has an amazing view looking out onto Doolin and the ocean and is a convenient drive into Doolin and around the area. Food was excellent and Carmel was super accommodating to us as pescatarian guests. B&B has a really homey feel and we loved getting to chat with Carmel and Martin. If you are renting a car, this is an excellent place to stay. Rooms are great for accommodating a family.

We have mixed feelings about our stay. On the positive side, the house itself is very charming and the host (the gentleman) was incredibly kind and took great care of us. He prepared an excellent, delicious homemade breakfast in the morning. The room was perfectly clean, the bed linens were fresh and fragrant. As were the towels the gentleman provided for us.

However, there were several issues with the room. It was extremely cold during the night – around 16°C - and if it weren't for the extra blankets, we would have been freezing. The water temperature in the shower was very weak, and the toilet barely flushed. Given the low price we paid, the basic facilities were expected, but these technical issues were still uncomfortable. The most unpleasant part of our stay was the attitude of the lady owner. Immediately upon our arrival, the first thing she addressed was a 30 Euro price difference on Booking.com. She approached us again in the morning, clearly expecting us to pay the extra amount. We found this very unprofessional. We booked the room for the price displayed on the platform, and any pricing errors are not the guest's responsibility. Our rating would have been much higher thanks to the gentleman’s hospitality, but the constant pressure regarding money ruined the atmosphere.
