Smile Hotel Kyoto karasumagojo

I've stayed at many Smile hotels in the past. This one has much smaller rooms! Other than great, it has a GREAT staff, very friendly and helpful! It's near the Kyoto Station. It's very easy to find, as it is in the direction where the Kyoto Tower is. When you get out of Kyoto Station's main/central entrance FACING the Kyoto Tower, with the station behind you, walk straight up for 4-5 minutes on the left side of the street/boulevard. You should be passing the huge temple on your left hand, and you should be on the same side of the street as the temple is. The hotel is literally right after the metro exit, like 5 steps after the metro exit of the Gojo stop. You can take the metro back and forth between the hotel and Kyoto Station. It's just ONE stop! Get off the Gojo stop and remember to take the correct exit to end up next to the hotel! Say "Hi!" to the staff member and mention "Anime Power!" to the staff members. They will know what it means :-) Thanks, Smile Hotel!

The room was nice, though the nature of the bathroom meant that there was some mold hidden in the crevices and in the caulking. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, great at answering questions about Kyoto. The breakfast was a really nice variety of dishes, both Japanese dishes and Western eggs and bacon. Laundry is just coin machines, nothing impressive, but gets the job done. Would gladly stay here again when I just need a compact room for myself. I didn't see any of the larger rooms, so I can't say how those would fit my family of 4.

Bathroom is the size of a trailer bathroom. Extremely small. Very close to the train station. Super convenient! Breakfast was mediocre. Tea coffee and soda always available
