The hotel has an attractive courtyard and restaurant attached. There is a parking lot in the back and a bathtub in the room which my travel companion really liked. The room also had the interesting feature of blinds that operated with a switch. We really enjoyed the location of the hotel as it is an easy walk to downtown Avranches.

A great find. Charming French quaint small hotel with a bar and excellent restaurant. Very much feels like old world charm. Great location within walking distance of the town square and other attractions. Only a short drive (20 min) to Mt St Michele. Clean and modern amenities. Just be patient looking for a parking spot near the hotel.

A venerable and old-fashioned hotel. Many traditional tools were displayed at the restaurant and lobby. The lovely garden was cleaned up everywhere. The dinner at the restaurant was very satisfying. There were a lot of kind of wine and the staff recommended one best matched with our meal. The staff kindly arranged for taxis.

We were the only guests in the hotel that night (winter visit), but we felt very welcomed. We ate both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and it was great - good value and high quality. The room is a bit cramped and the parking is hard to find, but overall it was great.

Hotel does not have Air Conditioning. That would be OK in cooler weather if there were a way to open windows without loosing privacy and getting a breeze. There were solid shutters on our ground floor window. So, if we opened, anybody could look in. If we opened, but used the shutters, we accomplished nothing and got no breeze. The rooms could be refreshed. There were old classic style bed spreads on the beds - very unappealing and felt used and old. Hotel needs to switch to no old polyester spreads and just the bed runner that all hotels are now using. Carpet should be replaced with a hard surface. Staff did provide a standing fan. The restaurant was lovely for dinner.

Great Hotel in a nice town close to Mont St. Michel. Owner/Manager was very nice and helpful along with the rest of the staff. They had a nice restaurant but we had eaten a very large lunch and werent hungry enough for a three course dinner. Will definitely eat there is we return.

We ate in the restaurant and had a very good meal. The staff were all extremely attentive. Avranche is a great overnight stop - the market is good and there is a good choice of bars and restaurants.

We used to stay in the hotel next door but decided to give the Croix dor a try. It is delightful - our room looked out over the beautiful garden and was very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant and had a very good meal. The staff were all extremely attentive. Avranche is a great overnight stop - the market is good and there is a good choice of bars and restaurants.

We used to say here regularly up till 9 years ago when we stopped using the Cherbourg Ferry, but had wanted to use it again as we always enjoyed it. We feared that it might have changed, but our fears were groundless. Eric and his staff were their usual friendly and efficient selves. It was lovely to find that nothing had changed except they have upgraded the accommodation very tastefully since our last visit. There is also a kettle provided now. The 4 course set menu at €26.50 was superb and we had a lovely meal again. Every dish is freshly cooked with excellent quality meat and vegetables. The apple pie is well worth waiting 12 minutes for. You need that break after the huge irresistible cheeseboard that precedes it anyway. Unfortunately it was raining so we were unable to enjoy our usual pre-dinner drink in the fabulous enclosed garden. Altogether a wonderful return. We have promised we will return sooner next time.
