    The sunset view from the room is the only real highlight of this hotel. Unfortunately, almost everything else about the stay was disappointing and needs significant improvement. There were no staff available from 8:00 pm until 10:00 am, which is particularly concerning when guests have an issue during the night. The room also had no private bathroom, so guests were required to use the communal public bath. The facilities were very basic and far below what I expected for a comfortable hotel stay. The most serious issue was what happened during the night. I was woken up by what appeared to be fleas or bedbug bites from the bed and could not get back to sleep for the rest of the night. By morning, I had discovered around 15 bites on my body. This was an extremely unpleasant and distressing experience, and the hotel should take cleanliness and pest control very seriously. The hygiene arrangements were also concerning. Guests are required to remove their shoes at the entrance and change into shared slippers provided by the hotel. The slippers did not appear to be disinfected between guests. In addition, the carpet in the room did not look particularly clean. Overall, although the sunset view is beautiful, the view alone does not make up for the lack of overnight staff, basic communal facilities, questionable cleanliness, and most importantly, the suspected fleas bites from the bed. I left feeling very disappointed and would expect the hotel to address these hygiene and maintenance issues urgently.

    Loved it! I don't know why others down rate for no shower in the room. This is normal in Japan and the onsen is great. There is also a huge common area where you can cook and get free drinks and cup noodles. Amazing view from windows.

    We had a wonderful stay at The Sunset Shiretoko. The sunset view from our room was absolutely perfect and one of the highlights of our trip. The hotel was comfortable, cozy, and pleasantly quiet, without feeling crowded. We also appreciated the shared kitchen facilities, which were convenient for preparing light meals. The peaceful atmosphere and beautiful scenery made it a very relaxing place to stay. We especially loved the stunning views from the hotel.
