ARtINn 極寒藝術伝染装置

It's the best place to stay in Kawayu Onsen. This is my second time staying at ARtInn and I will definitely be back soon.

I liked everything!!!

The deco and vibe of ARtINi is quirky and eclectic. It is decorated with funky artworks and installations, a strange and unusual concept. The room (Junior Suite, on 2nd floor) is very spacious but the bedroom is separated from the WC/kitchenette and the indoor and outdoor onsen is on the 1st floor. The adjoining sofa area that faces the road/carpark is a cool place to chill, relax and read a book. The tatami room next door leads to a patio outside that is great for enjoying the cool air. We spotted Ezo deers grazing on the grass verge from the outdoor patio. The 2 single mattresses are very comfortable and there is sufficient heating to keep warm and cozy. The outdoor onsen is private, authentic and very enjoyable.

The outdoor and indoor onsen has very strong sulphur smell and likely too acidic as we had some skin rash after soaking in there by day 2.

Conveniently located near bus stops, the Visitor Centre, and several izakayas, this inn is well situated for exploring the area. The exterior is brightly lit, making it easy to locate after dark. The room is divided into three distinct sections, each showcasing a quirky and artistic design that gives the property a unique character. However, it may be better suited to younger or more mobile guests, as the private onsen facilities assigned to individual rooms are located two floors below the guest accommodations.

The room should have better lightings.

Lovely spacious rooms in a funky artist built dwelling. We were in Room 3 which has a large tatami room plus large other bedroom with low table. Quiet location in the small town. Very walkable.

The onsen and shower for room 3 is pretty awful. Especially the inside onsen. The outside one is a bit better, but not much thought or attention has gone into landscaping or aesthetics. The onsens attached to the other 2 rooms were definitely nicer. There are no robes supplied for going downstairs through the common areas to use the shower or onsen. While it is arty and we were good with that, no thought has been given to comfort or practicality. There is no comfortable seating in the rooms, the toilet and "kitchenette" sinks are both at knee height, meaning you are bending at awful angles all the time when you use them. No sponges supplied to wipe anything down. The bedroom and toilet door frames are about 150 to 155 cm high. More bending again. The whole place feels like a work in progress.
