Muntri Grove

Loved our stay here! The rooms were very spacious and air conditioned. We loved that it’s in a restored house. The pool was very nice to have as well in the Georgetown heat!

Absolutely loved the hotel. Very spacious room was beautifully decorated with textiles from a local shop and other charming and tasteful interiors. Everything was very well maintained and clean. Friendly and attentive owner and staff were always there to help and assist. The only backdrop would be the noises and music sounds from bars nearby at night, but for me this was an acceptable trade-off for the convenient location. During the day, it was quiet and peaceful in general. I hope to come back!

Great staff, location & hotel. A historic building and a nice change from your generic hotel without compromise. Good AC & beds. Yes, some noise from the nearby bars in the evening but not a deal breaker for us. Would stay again.

Muntri Grove is an absolute gem in George Town. The location is brilliant, the staff and service are excellent, and the rooms are enormous, beautifully kept and full of character. It feels like somewhere you've actually travelled to stay, rather than another generic hotel room that could be anywhere in the world. The pool is an absolute treat after a long, hot day exploring Penang. Even better, there are free icy poles by the pool, which may sound like a small thing until you've spent the day walking around George Town in Malaysian heat. Then they're basically a five-star amenity. I'd also take some of the reviews complaining about nearby live music with a grain of salt. I really didn't find it particularly loud, and you're staying in a fantastic, lively part of George Town. My solution was to wander out, listen to some genuinely great bands and have a few beers. Problem solved. If I had to find a complaint, it's also somehow a compliment. I love that Muntri Grove provides kimonos instead of boring hotel robes, and proper sandals/thongs instead of those terrible disposable slippers. Sadly, the sandals and my European male-sized feet were never destined to be friends. 😂 Fantastic hotel, wonderful staff, huge rooms, loads of character and a location that makes exploring George Town incredibly easy. I'd happily stay here again.
