Apartment #2 was spacious, comfortable, modern, and pretty well equipped and we really enjoyed our time there. The setting was quiet and only an easy 3-5 mile drive to restaurants and wineries. The only disappointments were that there was no coffee filters, facial tissue, and only 2 rolls of toilet paper. The check-in was electronic and there is no personnel on site to assist in any way. We also had no change of towels or linens for our stay. Also there is practically no cell service, and the internet “hotspot” is weak and sporadic.

We had a great week in a lovely apartment in this big house just a couple of kilometres from the town of Alf on the Mosel river. Really friendly and helpful owner. Apartment was clean and comfortable with all that we needed. One minor gripe was that wi-fi access was a bit of a faff, and had to be logged into afresh every time. There is a supermarket and train station just over the river in Bullay (accessible by local ferry or nearby bridge for car), and boat trips on the Mosel from Alf itself. Also some great walking - up to the viewpoint near Marienburg recommended. One negative was trying to hire bicycles from the bloke who ran the ferry. Despite his advert and several bikes parked nearby he refused to help. Maybe it was a language problem. We did find good cycle hire in the nearby town of Zell-Merl. Cycling along the Mosel (flat, separate cycle paths) is very enjoyable.
