Our stay at Kobe Motomachi Tokyu REI Hotel was disappointing. We found a small cockroach in the room and a strand of hair in the bed underneath the blanket. The room also had an unpleasant smell. Only one small, thin pillow was provided per person, and the breakfast selection was limited. We were also not allowed to bring our own bread (wrapped in a plastic bag) into the breakfast area to eat alongside breakfast. Were we expected to eat it in our room, where we had found a cockroach? Given these issues, I struggle to understand how this hotel is advertised as four-star in Japan. The cleanliness, comfort and overall experience fell well below our expectations.

The location is nearby china town and motomachi arcade. It's also close to most umie shopping mall and atoe aquarium. The rooms are clean and decent.
