The room was warm and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful although very busy . I am a light sleeper and the traffic noise was a bit of a problem overnight .

Very quite location to stay but then limited to the pub/restaurant next door. Room was spacious with good WIFI. Shower was hot but not much power & bathroom itself could do with upgrading a little. Wardrobe smelt a bit musty so put clothes on chairs.

We stayed room 12 which was clean & spacious, en-suite gave us the option of bath or shower, staff very friendly & attentive , the manager (Doug ) had good banter with the customers which we found very comical, if we needed any top ups ( tea bags , milk etc) staff very obliging.

Beautiful historical hotel, convenient to travel into Tetbury. Delicious meals, breakfast was exceptional. Meals from the menu were very good and fairly priced. Staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful. Rooms were quite basic, however lovely comfortable bed and quiet location, slept well. Negative point - be careful of pot holes in the car park

A short summary to formally express my dissatisfaction with the unacceptable conditions of Room 12 during my stay on Tuesday 22 July 2025. As this was a last-minute booking, and upon arrival I was immediately met with a strong, unpleasant odour upon entering the room. I had to open all windows to air it out. Upon further inspection, I discovered that the bathroom was in a deplorable state—dirty, covered in mould, and clearly neglected in terms of cleanliness. Photos attached. As a frequent traveller, I take precautions like wearing flip-flops in the shower and socks in the room, but the conditions here were beyond anything I’ve experienced. The entire room appeared dated and poorly maintained, with visible dirt, spiderwebs in the corners, and unclean bathroom glasses that gave the impression they were wiped with the same rag used for the toilet. Given the late hour and my exhaustion, I had no choice but to stay, though I slept above the covers due to concerns about the bed’s cleanliness. This was, without exaggeration, one of the worst accommodations I’ve encountered in all my travels. I strongly advise immediate action to address these hygiene and maintenance issues to prevent other guests from enduring a similar experience.

Exterior looks very run down. However, inside it was much better. The lobby area at the entrance to the rooms was clearly seen better days but was clean. The rooms themselves, whilst again very dated were spotlessly clean and reasonably well appointed. I had a good night's sleep. The room staff clearly do a very good job.

Very nice with warm and welcoming atmosphere. Staff were absolutely brilliant. Food was excellent. Room was comfy and warm. Bed was lovely, didn't want to get up lol. Would definitely stay again and recommend. Prices were excellent. Thank you. My wife's hot chocolate was fabulous. Could'nt add pics.

We called ahead to ask if we could check in early so we could change to go to a wedding. They weren’t able to get the room ready but did let us in before it had been cleaned so that we could change. The family room had 2 bedrooms and suited our needs really well, and would suit most families. The room decor was a little tired but clean and all in good working order. The car park was quite muddy in February so a bit tricky for cases etc. Breakfast was good quality with plenty of variety and the staff were accommodating and friendly.

We stayed as part of a multi day walking holiday. The positives after a long day walking are: warm rooms, lashings of hot water, comfortable beds, good pub grub, easy parking and a fantastic breakfast to set us up for the next day. On the negative side the rooms and public areas are shabby...it didnt bother us as the rooms were finctional but you might be dissappointed if you were hoping for a special night away. Check in/out service was also very very slow.

When we arrived there was no one on reception. The annex room we had was rather shabby, the carpet had not been cleaned around the edges for a long time, it was full of dust. The shower had black mould all around the base and part way up the walls, a very tired room indeed. Exterior of hotel untidy needs a lot of updating, car park potholed. We were with a group of friends for dinner, we had to wait nearly an hour and a half for the food to arrive. We nearly gave up waiting. The following morning there was only one member of staff on at breakfast. People who arrived after us were served before us. Virtually everything on the self service table had gone and the waiter told us that there was nothing left. We ordered a cooked breakfast and once again we had to wait over 1hr for our food to arrive and when it did it was cold and dried up. It would appear as this is the only hotel in the vicinity of Kingscote barn wedding venue they are taking advantage of this and charging accordingly. Very poor indeed. Would not recommend this hotel.
