This hotel is located in a place around where there are wharves. To get to fort kochi its quite near. But if are planning to tour around other places in kochi where the shopping areas are, its far. But the hotel facilities are well maintained and breakfast was good. The pool is siutated in a very instagrammable setting. Rooms smelled wonderful n were kept clean. Staff were beyond kind and hosted us very well.

I enjoyed my stay at the Fern. It was very comfortable and enjoyable. The staff was exceptionally courteous and took care of all my needs. Felt like home away from home.

This hotel looks to be a pretty old property or at least the room that we stayed in gave us this feeling. A five star should have better maintained rooms. We were given a room that had marks on the floor. Food was okayish. Nothing too great nor too bad.

A stay at The Fern Kochi Hotel can only be described as a masterclass in how not to run a hotel. My daughter and her friend travelled to Kochi recently, and the chaos began before they even arrived. We tried arranging a hotel pickup because two young girls travelling alone deserve at least basic coordination. Instead, it took endless reminders. When the car finally showed up, it came with a complimentary cockroach family. Nothing says “welcome” like visible wildlife in your transport. At the hotel, the hospitality only got more… creative. When they asked the concierge what they could explore nearby, one staff member passed them to another, who brilliantly suggested, “Why don’t you Google it?” Groundbreaking concept — guests discovering Google thanks to hotel staff. Need a hotel car to go out? “Take an Uber.” Need help planning your stay? “Use the internet.” Need Wi-Fi details? Apparently… solve a mystery. No one explained how to log into the Wi-Fi. They had to figure it out themselves, and when they finally did, the connection was so patchy it felt like the hotel was rationing internet by the minute. Perfect, really — hard to Google local attractions when the hotel Wi-Fi disappears every five seconds. Dining was a test of emotional resilience. First the restaurant was “closed.” Then it was magically open. Food arrived after an hour — following two reminders. Ketchup for a burger took another hour. Truly farm-to-table, if the farm was in another time zone. The gym? A decorative room full of non-working equipment. They reported it. Help arrived an hour later, presumably after a committee meeting about it. Housekeeping seemed to operate on a “close enough” philosophy. Rooms were tidied, but not what anyone would call properly cleaned. To be fair, the food tasted good — whenever it eventually made its grand entrance. Overall, the vibe wasn’t hospitality — it was indifference with air-conditioning and unstable Wi-Fi. Kochi is beautiful and deserves far better than this. If you enjoy chasing staff for basic service, troubleshooting your own internet, and bonding with insects, this might be your place. Otherwise, save your money and your patience. Would absolutely not recommend — especially for families or women travellers expecting even minimal attentiveness.
