AL GEKO DEL GROPPO ☆ Breath & Relax ☆ 5 TERRE

The view from the balcony is amazing and the property is very quiet and peaceful. The location is perfect away from the crowds and close to some trails that lead to adjacent towns. We took the bus up which runs until around midnight and walked down (just 10 minutes).

The house was new and full of lovely details and decoratiion, very homely. The view from the balcony was spetacular ! It was very well equipped for a small or long stay. ( lovely to see an ironing board but at the time of my stay , iron available was broken - admin can certainly fix this ) Admin was available and instructions to find the house were easy -we used a taxi when we arrived with luggage and then bus / hike the rest of our stay. We are a family with couple in their 40s and kids from 10 to 15 , so the many stairs in the house were not an issue, I found it very charming and also the three levels gave everyone a good sense of privacy.

We loved everything about our stay but the shower availability of hot water can be tricky if you have several people to use it. We were in 5 and had to time it carefully. Just a point to be mindful of , but nothing that would stop us from staying there again . It would be extremely nice to have had more comfortable seating in the balcony , as that is the star point of the property and it would have allowed us to enjoy it more.

The view!!! The apartment is spacious and well appointed. We had everything we needed, enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and the view made it difficult want to leave.

We managed the stairs but they are challenging, especially when carrying luggage, groceries, etc. They would be difficult for people with mobility issues and scary for smaller children.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of April. The location of the house made it difficult to tour the area. The customer service we received was the worst out of all of our stays during our 35 days visit in Italy. On the day of our arrival, I had to call multiple times to inquire about the check-in process. I was repeatedly told that the information will be sent or has already been sent via Booking.com and WhatsApp. But I did not received anything. Finally, they realized that they sent it to the wrong phone number. By then, we had already arrived at Manarola and because we did not have our check in information, we had to wait for more than 1 hour for the next bus. To get to the house from the Groppo bus station, you have to watch and follow directions in a YouTube video. The layout of the house is very inconvenient. The main bathroom is on the ground floor and a half bathroom is on the third floor. The main bedroom is on the second floor. The third floor has bunk beds. So, for the people in the main bedroom who need to access the bathroom, they either have to go up, or, down the stairs. This is very inconvenient and dangerous, especially during the middle of the night! Additionally, there was never enough hot water. During our 3 nights there, we were never able to take a good shower. The 1/2 bathroom on the top floor does not have hot water at all. The bedroom on the top floor does not have a heater. We were told to turn on the air conditioner in the kitchen and keep the door open to allow the warm air into the bedroom. As to the kitchen, it has all the necessary cookware, utensils and dishes. It does NOT have a microwave. If you plan to do any cooking, bring your own provisions (including: salt, pepper, coffee/tea, sugar, etc.) If it was in another location, we would have gone out to eat. However, there are no restaurants, nor grocery stores in Groppo.

Nice apartment with an amazing view! A lot of stairs, so with children it is a little challenge! Like everywhere in the Cinque Terre area there are no private parking lots. But there are a few public areas for free just 100m from the apartment. We were lucky during our stay in May, this time of the yeah it was easy to get a spot.

A great base to explore Cinque Terre by car. Beautiful view from the balcony. The apartment has everything we need.

La vue, l'emplacement proche de Manarola, le calme (cela dépend aussi des voisins car ils sont très proches !). C'est simple mais en très bon état et bien entretenu.

La clim est seulement dans le séjour (pour les chambres, seuls des ventilateurs pas très efficaces sont fournis), il faut aimer les escaliers car il y a une piece par étage (une vraie maison typique des Cinque Terre !).
