    I had such an amazing time at The Niu Fender. It was a delightful stay. Florance at front desk was such an amazing help for a first time solo traveler. Everyone I encountered was very courteous also. The room and view were everything. It is worth staying a little outside of the city especially since the #42 bus drops off right in front of the hotel from Centraal Station and runs quite regularly.

    Premium room with sofabed, spacious, view over canal on 4th floor, extremely comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast. Good bus service to centraal station. Great staff.

    The hotel has a great location, and the rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. Breakfast was okay, although the scrambled eggs were tasteless and very dry. Unfortunately, I can only give 2 stars, mainly because the service was far below what I would expect from a 4-star hotel. At check-in, four of us were at the reception, but the parking procedure was still not explained clearly and we had to figure it out ourselves. Check-out was also disappointing. The staff asked twice whether the parking had been paid, but nobody asked whether we had taken all our belongings or needed to leave any luggage at the hotel. The biggest problem was that I accidentally left my passport and wallet in the safe. We had already spent a few hours in Amsterdam and driven back to Belgium before I realised it. I called the hotel, but it was extremely difficult to reach the front desk. Eventually they confirmed that they had found my belongings, and apparently they had tried to contact me, however the did not have my phone number. I understand that leaving the documents behind was my mistake, but I find it very strange that the hotel apparently had no way of contacting me, especially since the booking was made through Agoda and these were clearly important documents. If I had received an email in time, it would have been enough. As a result, I had to drive back to Amsterdam from Belgium and then back again to collect my belongings. After around 3 hours of driving, I explained my frustration at reception, but unfortunately received very little understanding or empathy. I was simply told that the person who checked us in had not taken our contact details. Overall, the hotel itself is nice and the location is excellent, but the service really let the experience down. We booked two rooms and travelled with friends, and unfortunately none of us were happy with the service. I’m not sure I would give the hotel another chance.
