    My husband & I only stayed in Florence for 2 nights- we had a limited budget but wanted a decent room size that included breakfast and be close to the heart of Florence. Hotel California ticked all those boxes. The staff were very helpful and quick to reply to all my messages before we checked in. We arrived early to the hotel & they were more than happy to hold our luggage so we could explore. The room was quite larger than I was expecting, I was pleasantly surprised. Breakfast was very simple but did the trick. Overall We enjoyed our stay.

    Location is good, unfortunately it doesn’t feel like a 4-star property. The hotel appears quite rundown. KEY (not key card) is required to be returned to reception everytime you leave the hotel, which is inconvenient. The bathroom door had a hole that was simply stuffed with tissue, which was concerning. There were also mosquitoes in the room. The room assigned to me was located at the far end of the hotel, and the corridor leading to it was dimly lit even during the afternoon. Sound proofing is poor as I could hear the kids screaming and laughing all night. Additionally, the bathroom cubicle is pretty small and water would flow out into the bathroom area while showering.

    Had a horrible experience in this hotel. Rooms smell of nepthaline balls. Switches broken. No drinking water. No kettle. You need to leave keys of the room and locker at the reception. Old hotel with broken walls and ceilings. Really pathetic beds and sheets. Staff is helpful and breakfast is okayish. In this price of *** Euro per night, better basic facility hotel should be taken. They are just charging so much for the location, which itself is in a dirty lane.
