I booked a specific room type at the Rodos Palace Hotel through Agoda, but upon arrival, the room provided did not match what I paid for. Dealing with the mismatch turned into an incredibly frustrating process. Trying to coordinate between the hotel and Agoda's customer service to get a resolution was an absolute headache, and getting them to agree to a fair partial refund took far more effort than it should have. Be very careful when booking specific room tiers through this platform, as what you select in the app might not be what the hotel actually receives in their system. Customer support was unhelpful and slow to take responsibility. Will think twice before using Agoda again for major bookings.

We booked a room with a view, 14th floor; room is refurbished, excellent. Value for money was great. The breakfast could be better. Some facilities look a little old, but, overall, we had a great stay.

I stayed in an executive room at Rodos Palace Hotel for eleven nights. The hotel has impressive facilities, sea side rooms have great view, this place has considerable potential as a destination for both conferences and holidays. The housekeeping team deserves particular praise: cleanliness was consistently of a high standard. Unfortunately, my experience with reception and guest service was deeply disappointing. I encountered eye-rolling, dismissive facial expressions and an attitude that made me feel like an inconvenience rather than a welcome guest. Although I had paid for my stay in full before arrival, I was required to pay an €80 deposit at check-in. The deposit itself was not my main concern; it was the explanation that I might damage the room or steal something. This set an unnecessarily distrustful tone. After charging the deposit, a trainee receptionist insisted that I physically hand over my bank card so she could also inspect its security code. When I refused, she initially refused to complete my check-in. I found this demand intrusive and unacceptable. Even simple requests seemed to require a manager’s approval. I could not borrow a corkscrew and waited around an hour for someone to come and open a bottle of wine. The hair dryer in my room overheated and stopped working. When I asked to borrow a replacement, I was again told that a manager needed to approve it, and none was provided. Staff repeatedly explained these restrictions by referring to guests stealing hotel property. Preventing theft is a management responsibility. Paying guests should not be made to feel like suspects when requesting basic amenities. Dinner was included in my booking, but the hotel failed to record this properly. I repeatedly had to prove my entitlement before entering the dining room—an avoidable and embarrassing inconvenience. This hotel could offer a very good experience, but its service and management fall far short of the standard suggested by its facilities. Excellent cleanliness cannot compensate for an atmosphere of distrust and dismissive treatment. Because of the way I was treated, I would not return.
