Shakespeare House Town Centre FREE Parking

Location was very central, house was very very unique and cozy. Host was responsive and helpful. There was even a basement level with pool table and dart board.

Close to town, fully equipped and beds were extremely comfortable

Location was great. The backyard was lovely and the beds were comfortable. Our host was lovely and very responsive.

The stairs were very narrow and steep and both showers were very impractical. One a bath tub with a handheld shower rose, the other very tiny.

Not sure quite how to write this review. This place definitely has a lot of potential, but it's not there yet. The bathrooms were very clean, so that was awesome Beds on the top floor were comfortable (middle floor bed was very hard and and somehow saggy, too). It's great location and a decent value, but we wouldn't choose it again.

1. The pictures don't match the space. They are photos of the actual space, but they have been highly edited to make it look like you are booking a bright, airy, and fresh place. Unfortunately, it's quite drab and dreary when you walk in. Those beautiful blue sofas in the photos are stained and worn, the carpet is worn, the "game room" area in the basement is drab and musty, etc. Maybe if the pics hadn't been so misleading, the shock of it wouldn't have been so jarring, but we walked in and immediately were disappointed. The top-floor bedrooms and the bathrooms were the closest to matching the pics and were pretty nice. 2. They advertise free parking knowing that they can't actually offer you parking. The host waited until the last minute to send us a screenshot of some message from the council denying them a parking pass. But other reviewers have had the same issue, so this obviously isn't something new. I specifically chose this place because of the free parking. Instead, you have to park at a paid lot about a 10-minute walk away and hope there is a spot available. Not the end of the world, but it is false advertising, and they knew it. They did refund us the money we paid to park, which was appreciated. Also, they asked me not to mention the parking thing in the review, which I thought was kind of icky. 3. When people mention the stairs as an issue, they aren't kidding. Those stairs are treacherous, and I don't mind stairs at all. And it's made worse because of the layout of the space. The kitchen and living room are on the main floor. You walk up one flight of stairs to a bedroom with a private bathroom and the other bathroom. Then you walk up another set of stairs to the two other bedrooms. This means that if you need the restroom at night, you're walking down a flight of tall, thin stairs. 4. There is only one real shower, and it's tiny! The other is a claw-foot tub with a hand-held sprayer.
