Challenging with the strong odours!

Our first impression on opening the front door was the strong smell of Damp to the rear of the property it had a strong smell of Diesel, we left what we could in the car to avoid the smell getting on our belongings.

Convenient to both Letterkenny and Glenveagh, remote enough to have your own space.

There was a terrible smell of oil or paraffin the whole time. Honestly we all had headaches from it. The stairs to the upstairs is also in my opinion dangerous for getting up and down. There was some mould beside the bed upstairs. As much as I enjoyed reading the history behind the cottage, I found it to be cold and not worth the price paid given the overwhelmingly strong smell of oil.

A cozy, historic stay in the midst of Donegal!

Sinead was easy to reach and very friendly. Check-in was easy, and the cottage is a cozy, charming, lovely family gem. Squeaky clean - and interior that made you feel right at home!

As the cottage is over 100 years old, it is quite small - which was only an issue for us as my husband (who is 2m) couldn't stand upright in the bedroom and we didn't really have much space in the bed either. But if you're not as tall, it shouldn't be a problem. :)

Absolutely wonderful

Butler’s cottage is outstanding in every way. Set in an idyllic location, the cottage is beautiful inside and out. It is spotlessly clean and is extremely well equipped. The open fire is a delight and the addition of a Christmas tree for our Christmas stay was so very thoughtful. Such a wonderful place to relax and unwind or to explore the local area from, and everyone was so friendly. The host was amazing, great communication and so friendly and thoughtful. Butler’s cottage is the best cottage that we’ve stayed at in Ireland. We would definitely recommend a stay at Butler’s cottage and can’t wait to return. Lynda & Trevor

Excellent location with Letterkenny about 10 minutes away. Very quiet without feeling isolated. A beautiful cottage and excellent for some star gazing when the clouds allowed.

Access to upstairs bedroom was through the master bedroom. I am being picky as it was very nice Warm and cosy and very good value for money.

Cosy cottage but a few misleading important details

Cosy cottage in a good location and fully equipped kitchen/living area. Quaint and picturesque setting with a peaceful outlook. Directions were easy to follow.

Accessing the property was difficult with no details for check in provided through booking.com despite numerous attempts to make contact both on the day and in the lead up however Sinead the host was helpful when I reached her at 7pm. The bedroom arrangements are not clearly portrayed in the description and not suitable for all adult guests. The upstairs sleeping arrangements are two single child beds with no privacy as they are within the same room as the double bed down stairs which share a very narrow spiral staircase. This would be helpful to know when booking as not everyone would like to share a room with the entire group or have the mobility to access the roof space.

we waren erg gecharmeerd van het huisje, je voelde je er zo welkom. Ze hadden melk, eieren en brood en jam neergezet, wat een ontvangst. Er was een wasmachine en het huisje ligt er prachtig.

Als het warm is kunnen er wel koelere dekbedden opgedaan worden.

Charmant cottage, un peu rustique mais confortable, le genre d'endroit où on se sent bien. Endroit vraiment paisible - on entend les moutons mais pas les voitures, seulement à une dizaine de minutes de la ville la plus proche. Prenez quelques minutes pour lire l'histoire de la maison et de la famille propriétaire.

Pas de WiFi, surtout un problème pour mes ados.... ;-) Mais ce n'est pas si désagréable de débrancher de temps en temps.

Tolle Location für Ausflüge in die Region Donegal und nach Letterkenny.

Das Cottage war sehr gut ausgestattet und sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Das kleine Zimmer unter dem Dach hat uns besonders gut gefallen. Der Kamin war gemütlich. Die Umgebung war angenehm ruhig, der Blick auf Schafweiden und Natur sehr schön.

Leider gab es kein WiFi.
