Sand House

There are places and people that you simply fall in love with :)This was our second stay here this summer and it speaks better than words. When we were leaving the house in early July preparation for construction work was in process next to the house and construction work was in progress nearby.When we started this next visit to Sand house we had in mind that there might be some inconveniences connected with the construction works,mainly noise. However,we were nicely surprised - the work was going silently and we were not bothered at all.For those who might have concerns - work starts at about 7.30a.m. and ends at about 15p.m. or 16p.m. When we search for places for our vacations we always search for places where the owners have lived.This ensures as much amenities as possible;we don`t like newly established/sterile places. Some detail that can be of use: the house is surrounded by a garden with many trees and bushes.The trees guarantee shade and noise isolation and ensure privacy. The first floor and the veranda are shady,the second floor is sunlit with sunshades and coffee tables with sea view :) The yard is private,with 3 different sitting areas.The veranda was mostly used and I need to note that the table and the chairs are a quality wooden set. Beautiful and comfortable house inside and outside :) Cars can be parked next to the house-not a designated parking lot. We very much liked and enjoyed the bikes and the hammock :) The sea...Oh that sea!:) It is child-friendly,definitely.The beach in Nea Moudania is sandy and child-friendly,the beach in front of the house is also sandy and child-friendly,but with small stones;the beach in front of the beach bar is also sandy and child-friendly,but with more small rocks and stones that ensure rich sea life-you`ll enjoy it :) The hosts...They are the couple that has created this piece of paradise and the people that have offered their home to others to enjoy too.Thank you so much Voula and George!See you again soon!

This is more like a thought,a recommendation.But of course depends on the guests the hosts accept. People in Bulgaria love drinking espresso unlike the northerners who prefer filtered coffee. We brought our espresso machine with us and didn`t miss a good cup of coffee on the veranda in the mornings.

Welcoming host! The house is private, althogh semi-detached. Good facilities - very comfortable beds. The location is exceptional - very close to the beach, taverns, markets.

There was a smell of sewerage coming from both bathrooms and they weren't clean enough. The house needed a deeper cleaning before it was rented out.

Great location in a quiet area. Very close to the beach and beach bars/restaurants. It’s a big, comfortable house, perfect for a family vacation or a group of friends.

It was surrounded by some construction sites, but I understand it was just an unfortunate coincidence mixed with bad timing.

Kitchen is small but very well equipped. Grill was big and clean. Two bikes, although in a bad condition, are usable and I enjoyed the rides. The house is about 200m from the beach, but there is a nice flat road leading to the beach. You can also visit multiple beach bars just few meters away. Two grocery stores and one pharmacy is available in the village. Lidl and other big supermarkets are about 3km (15 min bike ride) away. A sunset almost behind Mount Olympus can be observed from the beach.

The "house" is actually one apartment in a big beach house. It is rather small and the ground level is absolutely dark. We had to turn the lights on at noon! The decorations are chaotic. There is a navy theme with ropes and ship models, but also a NY-style clock, Ikea furniture, etc. A proper chef knife in the kitchen would help a lot. A microwave would be a nice addition. Two small showers, neither of them had a curtain so water was everywhere after each shower. Upper bathroom needs major renovation. Toilet is leaking, sometimes there is no hot water in the shower, a smell is coming from the drain. One of 3 bedrooms had no AC unit. All double beds are of smaller width. Each of them contained a shared blanked. I never understand that. Just give each person a separate blanket. There is a view on Mt. Olympus from one bedroom's balcony. Sunset can't be observed as it sets behind another buildings. There is almost no storage space. Internet is slow and sometimes drops off completely. The outer space is completely covered with greenery, hosting infinite number of mosquitoes and blocking the views of Olympus. Yard is rather small, nothing interesting for small children. A lot of wild cats pestering around. A house can potentially host 7 people, but there is no single table to accommodate all of them at once. Be mindful of stingy plants near the beach. It is very painful to step on it, but it also punctured two wheels on our stroller. Hosts are really nice, but they live in Thessaloniki and you can feel that. A basic maintenance is missing.
